I hope you are correct that he becomes an NHLer, but at this point he is an Arturs Lehknonen type player - unlikely he becomes anything more than that.
It’s a good comparison though, he’s a middle six NHLer who does play on both special teams units. Holmstrom is very good on power play which I believe will increase his point totals. Holmstrom by far and away is most improved player in Bridgeport, he is stronger and more confident and playing with Koivula and MDC who for all their flaws are top knotch AHL players only will help him develop offensively.

if holmstrom becomes a arturri type guy, i'm fine. as long as he's a productive NHL player, then lets go. get him here next season and we roll a better 4th line

Raty looks like he can be elite. So does Bolduc. I haven’t seen any of Dufour but he may turn out to be a real goal scorer for us.

Bolduc and elite in the same sentence? That’s a hot teak…

He’s got intriguing tools but I wouldn’t go any further than that.

I don't agree with the love for Hutton. To me he looked less than mediocre in the games he played.

I agree, but I’ve heard that he’s elevated his game since returning to Bridgeport. Maybe he carves out a career as a depth guy whether it’s with NYI or not?

I don’t know I just think watching Bridgeport each night Holmstrom is on a path to being an NHLer who plays in all situations. He is going to fit Trotz system extremely well, again I’m not a scout by any means but he plays game like an NHL winger IMO.

I agree from my very limited viewings, the biggest thing Holmstrom needs to improve on is putting on size. He reminded me of Strome in his draft year, just a very kid-like frame.

You would have said he could be elite after last season.

I stand by what I said, Bolduc can be elite. He has the tools, a terrific shot, smooth skating, good acceleration. Unfortunately it looks like this season is going to be a lost year for him. An ankle injury that cost him all of training camp and some more games again after rejoining the lineup. Let's see if he can salvage what's left of this year and it didn't set back his development.

Raty's team (Jukerit) unable to play because opposing team (Sport) has a COVID case. Plays again on the 8th

did you watch the game? any other updates, please and thank you.
Both assists were secondary and from faceoff wins. He had to gain position for the goals to happen, but nothing major, the kind of things any player would do. Didn't watch the game, just saw that he continues to contribute offensively.

This is not surprising nor is it that concerning either IMO. They are built to win in next three or so years without a lot of need for a top six forward assuming Wahlstrom continues to develop into a scorer in top six. They need a wing for Pageau line but that’s going to be Holmstrom IMO. Clutterbuck could be back cheaper next year or gone where possibly a guy like Bardreau or some other free agent could fit. Need a lefty top four D but that’s coming via free agency or trade as well. They do need to draft well over next couple drafts though.

I’m living for today so while I agree that our prospects are not the primary concern, our bare cupboard is still a glaring weakness.

Most organizations need to hit paydirt on a modest fraction of their higher value prospects.

The Isles need to cash in on a much higher percentage of their prospects to keep the organization humming. That includes current talent like Dobson and Wahlstrom (looking good), Bellows, Salo, Raty, Dufour, Holmstrom, Wilde and maybe one or two others.

It’s win now for sure but realistically not this year.

Keep those picks Lou. We need them.

Over the last 15 years, the Isles have found 2 absolute gems in the third round. Aside from that, the picks in the third round have been abysmal.

It’s a bit crazy to say it but that’s still a great yield considering the 2 players that made it.

2006: Figren
2007: Gregoire, Katic
2008: David Toews, Niemi, Petrov
2009: Nilsson
2010: Kabanov, Clark
2011: Pedan

I still think Vande Sompel is good enough to play in the NHL. I just don't think it'll be with the Islanders.
