Being in Canada I do not see a lot of Bridgeport games. Just curious to see if anyone thinks guys like Vande Sompel, Hutton and Wotherspoon will ever be NHL'ers or could they ever be a decent throw in for a trade package?

Hard to say. From the limited times I have seen them in Bridgeport I think only MVS has a chance to be a nhl player. Unfortunately a bad shoulder injury set his career back.

Thank you for the feed back, thought maybe Hutton would have a chance but again I really dont see them at all being up here. Appreciate the feed back.

I thought Vande Sompel was on track for the NHL as a bottom 4 and PP2 defenseman before injuries set him back in 2 straight seasons. I think Hutton has a chance to be a stay at home defenseman in the NHL. The biggest issue with Grant Hutton is that he got a late start to his pro career after graduating college at age 24.

I was never that impressed with Parker Wotherspoon in the AHL. Others here like him more than I do. I think his biggest knock is his puck management, especially in the defensive zone while pressured. Turnover prone.

As an aside, I would not grade any Bridgeport player on the 2021 season. It was a throwaway season, imho. The Sound Tigers were in a 3 team division with only their 2 neighboring teams (Hartford and Providence) and played a 24 game schedule. There were no playoffs.

I don’t know why but I have a really strong feeling about him. Just so much talent. Had an off year but their was a lot of extenuating circumstances.
I'll say its from a multitude of things
-Trusted Finnish team in Karpat
-The pedigree of a once talented prospect
-Only issue is skating and minor vision, but can be fixed
-Shot can be from anywhere
-Willing to get in the greasy area's
this kid could be a solid NHLer, screw what Jfresh things

It’s so weird certain scouting reports. I’ve been seeing reports about his skating but I’ve saw many reposts saying his skating was fine. Either way, that’s something that can be worked on.

And then we have the whole COVID stuff so there's plenty to take in. Raty could be excellent or he could just be another Noelkalainen.

I think Raty is hungry to prove he's a better player. I wanna see how he does in Liiga also this season
Possibly, but he has done quite well in the past against juniors and then struggled against adults, so the question mark on him isn't if he can score against other junior players, but if he can do the same against pros. Not saying he won't be able to do that in the future too, but just that while I am certainly happy he is playing so well in the junior showcase, it doesn't move the needle a whole lot for me either.

Very rarely is a 17-18 year old kid ready for the pros. For Raty it was probably a case of losing confidence as when he went back down to juniors he didn’t perform well either.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to use this as a knock against him, but the truth is most top prospects in Liiga score at a notably better rate than he did, even at that age. And while there are many reasons this may have been a fluke or something he can develop past, it simply remains a question mark until shown otherwise. I certainly think the possibility of him doing that is possible, but am just saying that playing well against other juniors isn't what we need to see him do in order to erase that question mark and consider him a top prospect (though it certainly doesn't hurt, either).

Making a call of what a prospect is going to be at 18 based only on stats is the most absurd thing.
One thing I notice about these analytics tweeters. They like Dubas and they are rarely correct. That should tell anyone all they need to know. This JFresh twit had the Leafs #1 in WAR over TB the Cup champs. Spreasheets over actual results. Unbelievable.

I will say that if an 18 year old is not producing points against his peers the likelihood is that he won't be a point producer at higher levels.
