They ****ing sucked at the beginning of the season.
They let people walk during play, they don't stop annoying fans, they take their sweet time getting you food. The worst was that they wouldn't let anyone go other sections before the game if you didn't have a ticket for that section. I couldn't see friends because we were sitting in different sections, we had to meet in the concourse which isn't as comfortable. That's not really a big deal, but I didn't really understand why they would do that. It was before the game, who cares?
At one point, one of the worst things I heard was when I made it late to a game (about 5 minutes), and a head security guard lady screamed "it's going to take 30 minutes to get into the arena from here!!!" Obviously I went in regardless considering I had tickets and I'm not going to miss a game because it may take a while to get into the arena. I went in and it took maybe 5 minutes to go through security (there was a long line) and got to my seat with about 12-13 minutes left in the 1st period. What bothered me so much was that it seemed as though she was dissuading people from coming into the arena. Excuse me? I have tickets, I'm going to watch a hockey game. Don't try to discourage me from coming in because it's a basketball arena and you weren't expecting a hockey team here. Granted, I was not in a great mood that day, but it felt like she was saying "Go find something else to do, this line is really long".
At one point in the season, I know there was a run in with security and some fans, but from what I remember that happened in Section 229 aka The Blue and Orange Army, who's known for being the most annoying and obnoxious group of Islanders fans. They all deserve to get kicked out of the arena.
As the year they went on they did get better, but at the beginning of the season they made me very angry. Not that I justify their terrible work, but Islander fans were very, very, very hostile going into the Barclays Center. Nobody wanted to move from the Coliseum, we had a frustrating playoff last year where we got crushed in Game 7, we didn't make any major acquisitions after a great year. Wrongly, Islander fans went into the season with great hostility which immediately made Brooklyn a negative experience to most of the fanbase.
Ask Bones about the cupholders.
