The Sharks could be available to make a trade. Ideally, they would trade two for one while shedding some cap space if possible. They have prospects in the AHL that can take the spot made available in such a trade while hopefully upgrading on the other.

I don't see the Sharks and Isles being good trade partners. You don't have enough top-6 forwards available to trade.

Would the Islanders consider...

RNH ($6.0)
Sekera ($5.5)
Pouliot/Fayne ($4.0/$3.625)

for

Hamonic ($3.857)
Nelson ($2.5)
Strome ($2.5)

I highly doubt NYI would even consider this for a second... especially when they would be adding $6m in annual cap hit.

I like how you only post Edmonton's lineup because that's the only team this proposal benefits.

Seems pretty bad for the Flames.

Islanders still don't do it but I don't think upgrading from Monahan to Tavares fixes the problems in Calgary especially not at the expense of their depth when they're already thin up front.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: are you ******* serious. Any proposal where monahan is the main piece coming back for Tavares is god awful for NYI

Think the deal will probably be around Hanzal and strome... and then strome will end up outscoring hanzal this season

I actually think they should start exploring the option of dealing Tavares soon. Not put him on the block but actually listen to offers. Tavares has a modified NTC and NMC for the next 2 years which could potentially limit options in the future. And if Islanders slide this year and dont really recover next season I see a chance the JT leaves. IMO Stamkos was pretty close to leaving and that was from a pretty powerhouse team with still a ton of upside. And they almost lost him for nothing

Islanders have good young pieces but if they cant recover next year, youd think Tavares would be concerned with getting a shot at a cup and could explore the option of leaving. So rather than it coming to that you could deal him sooner and get a bigger return.

I could actually see something like Monahan+Hamilton for Tavares+Pulock could work

Let's just go for broke if we're trading with AZ. Strome, DeHaan, Bluechip Prospect / pick for OEL

As much as every Isles fan would love this AZ isn't moving OEL.

How about Strome + Bailey for Hanzal + Rieder

Gives Isles more free space after this season to go after a UFA and ride the youth next season.

If there's any truth to Islanders and Avalanche being in discussion for a trade, I really hope they're targeting MacKinnon. No idea what the Islanders would need to offer to make that happen, but he's exactly what they need.
