Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund
New blog coming up.. It appears whatever was being discussed between Isles/Oilers may have fallen apart..for now..but clues are intriguing

LMAO, anyone else surprised to see this?

How many hits did Eklund's site get, based on this vague.. game changer rumor?:D

Do people still pay him for site access? That would surprise me.

Ugh, dumb Eklund.

Yet, in the next five years when the Isles and Oilers swap picks at the draft or something...Eklund can say, "Oh yeah, see I was right...I told you they were working on something...looks like they revisited it now."

Incarcerated Boob has NEVER been right about hockey. At least Eklund has been right a few times.

the thing that cracks me up about bob is when he claisms he broke a trade and tells people to prove otherwise==he gets really mad when someone does. If yuo know where to read and where to listen you know where bob gets his stuff from and who he is rippnig off

Like when Roloson was traded to TB-- HE made the statement that no media had even thought of it-- About a month before the trade Jim Matthieson in Edmonton Journal Hockey world predicted that Roloson would be traded to TB-- goes without saying Bob got a little offended

Eklund is pretty much a joke. I can't say I have much faith in anything he purports to be possibly happening. Anyone can come up with 'rumors' stuff. It's funny when even the legit media and sports writers make fun of him.

If I remember correctly Eklund did have the Tim Thomas trade first.. Just saying.. I never really follow his rumors or anything more than just to look at and ignore but he's been better lately but throw enough crap at the wall some will stick

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

I can't see Streit being offered up for a trade deal. I mean it sounds like it could happen, since I have heard nothing about contract negotiations, but I can't see it. As far as I can see, Viz is just not going to be in the NHL next year. We MIGHT trade him (Viz) if playoffs are not in the books for the Isles, but not Streit. If we trade Streit and Viz won't be back next year, then we don't have a PP specialist. Sure Amac and Hamonic are good, but not specialists...not like Streit and Viz.

I figure if we trade it will be for a top 3 winger or a future PP specialist at the very least.

Streit was a minus 27 last year and he's heading in that direction again. We need a PP specialist but we also need a guy that's not a defensive liability. I don't see them bringing Streit back next season. It's time to give the C to JT and Streit being here just slows that process down.

Not really. Potvin took over for Gillies and there was no problem with them being teamstes.

I kinda was thinking to go for Weber. He's slumping now..people think he's affected by Suter not being there. I was gonna say Craposo, Streit strait up for Weber...only because his contract is soooo HIGH and soo LONG..that's quite a commitment. He's got a freakishly high front loaded contract though..so I dono about adding more to the package.

I guess we will see if the news about moving to Brooklyn will sway people come the summer time.

We do need a right winger for JT. I would prefer someone older, but not on their last legs...someone between 27-32. JT needs someone on his line that HE can learn from. JT is a good player and can be great, but he won't get to great if he has less experienced and less talented people on his line.

I guess we will see if Wang is prepared to shell out for UFAs this summer or it's going to be the same garbage in Brooklyn.

It's going to take A LOT more than that, Streit is a UFA don't forget and he's not young. Weber is the best defenseman in hockey, Isles would have to move a lot of young prospects/players and have to pay him a ton of money. Forget about it.

I know, but I only said it because he is slumping right now (1 point 12 games) and if he keeps it up, we could see his stock fall. Maybe it's lack of chemistry with his new partner...who knows. IF he does keep up his poor play, this would be a salary dump for the Predators. Then again, we could risk having two crappy contracts on our team. Weber would be a nice fit on our team though and solidify anything defence on the Isles. Then we can concentrate on forward upgrades.

Under the cba rules, Nashville can't trade Weber for 1 full yr, after matching that offersheet.

By the time they reach that date, Nashville will have paid Weber $27m.

I don't see the Preds trading Weber anytime soon, after laying out $27m in 1 yr.

i'm not so sure donovan would be much worse than streit at this point. especially if you give him another year to work on his game.

Donovan, Ness, and de Haan (if healthy) could all fill that role. Not for nothing, Streit has become such a defensive liability he almost reminds me of MAB. Great on the point at the PP but had absolutely no business calling him self a defender.

I fore one would rather a quality defender whom can chip in on the PP oppose to a PP specialist.

Amac during the Gordon/Cappy year when Streit was out had 12 power play points and was 4-23-27 for the 60 games he played. I'm not sure if he was healthy toward the end of the year when the team was playing well, but I'm sure that he could of us some minutes along with Hamonic.

"I know it's eklund, but..."

One of the most common phrases in hockey internetdom.

How are Souray and Zubrus doing?

Are you guys telling me that one of Donovan/Ness or De Haan is capable of being a 45-55 point producing Dman? If that's true...I don't think any of these guys will be at that level for at least 3-5 more years.
