Isles close to deal with Edm?

I like Crew's proposal of Streit for Klefbom. Although Klefbom is out for the season with injury, the guy is one of their top prospects.

sory--strait does not get you klefbom

Start with the fact Strait is UFA after this year and will end with the fact klefbom is one hell of a d-man. I have seen him play a lot (I live in europe) and I predict he will be the next great D man out of Sweden. If you want to talk about klefbom you need to look at the blue chippers on your roster and not a soon to be 35 year old UFA

Whitney is from Massachusetts...and we all know Snow/Isles likes the New England guys.

So, I'd guess Whitney is a piece.

Fine, you don't have to twist my arm. I'll throw in Reasoner. Geez, you drive a hard bargain. Fire up the fax. :D

And I very much doubt that 1 and 1/2 yrs of Hemsky, gets the Oilers 20 yr old Nino.

We are more likely to see Nino called up to play on Tavares wing, then see him dealt in a short term move.

Strait isn't a UFA next year, Isles just signed him for the next 3 years.:sarcasm:

Since I suggested an Isles-Oilers deal earlier this week, I'll throw something else out there. No mention of Frans Neilsen in proposals? He makes sense for lots of reasons. He'd be perfect for the Oilers. Isles have Nelson, Strome, Cizikas, Sundstrom knocking on the door at C. And Frans was a MM draft pick, not a Snow pick. (Hey, Okposo wasn't a Snow pick either :amazed:). Just saying.

On the other hand, perhaps there's interest in Gagner. Snow also likes those Ontario boys (Moulson, Boyes, Cizikas) and guys with a history with JT (Moulson, Hickey). Perhaps he's trying to pry away JT's childhood friend.

Only issue with that is the Oilers are in need of centers with Horcoff and Belanger out. They are looking to add centers so I highly doubt they would trade Gagner as he is their #2C.

I'd take anything for Okposo. Love to see Ullstrom moved up to the second line. Grabner-Nielson-Ullstrom gives you great speed and some size with Ullstrom. Okposo and Streit for Hemsky and Whitney. Throw in Reasoner too.

Oddly enough this was my post in page 1 of the GDT , a little different from yours but had the same idea.

I have said the Islanders will lose in each of the last 3 GDT's (great job Trump) however for you sports bettors out there mark it in the books..Isles 5 Sabres 3.

Some crazy ideas for lines:

Martin JT Boyes-Martin brings toughness and can battle for loose pucks and hang in front of the net.
Moulson Aucoin Ullstrom- Aucoin and Ullstrom can create oppurtunities for Moulson in front
Bailey Nielsen Grabner- All three can play both O and D
Okposo Cizikas McDonald - best 3 left lol

Vis Strait
MaCDonald Hamonic
Streit Hickey

PP1 Moulson JT Boyes Vis and Streit
PP2 Bailey Aucoin Grabner MaCDonald and Hamonic

Scratches- Reasoner/Boulton

Why not?

P.S. i hope i didn't cost anyone any money on the game prediction

Wasn't me who suggested Nino to the oilers.

But I also found a flaw with what Eklund posted--I said I would 36 hours before teeing off on him, but it is a flaw

why would the teams wait to announce before tomorrows game and not after tonight games to have the players in place for tomorrow game. Oilers are playing an afternoon game

Maybe because Nino ad the rest of the plaers in the deal are snowed in and can't travel anyway.

BTW, other than Neilsen, I'd say the other most likely Isles would be Streit and Nino.

The most likely Oiler would have to be Hemsky to be JT's RW. Hemsky's the playmaking winger that JT needs (Hemsky gets 2 assists for every 1 goal he scores).

BTW, I consider myself immune from the Eklund nonsense b/c I proposed that the Isles and Oilers make a deal before he did. ;)

Okposo is losing his role in our top 6 with the return of Bailey. Okposo should be the one traded...he is not a top 6 guy. He has flashes but nothing more. Nielsen better not get moved. He and JT are my only no move players as far as offense goes. On D Hamonic is the only no move player. McDonald is a close 2nd but would move in a package if it brings us a legit #2 dman in return

I know you gotta give to get.
But...Nielsen...it'll be hard to see him go.

And one item we need to consider, who is the smartest, has the most hockey sense, on the Oilers? Snow seems to put amazing hockey sense high on his list of desired talents.

Eklund posted his major trade rumor sometime Thurs.

Isles went on to play I think all their key players on Thurs and Sat.
The only healthy scratches I can think of were Reasoner, Boulton and Finley.

For a gm who's supposedly working on a blockbuster, Snow doesn't seem too concerned with holding his players out of the lineup, so they avoid being injured and nixing a potential deal.

Okposo should actually be traded while he still has some value. They way he's playing now that value is fading fast.

Do you know how many very good players have struggled out the gate?

If Okposo gets dealt, I want like someone Goligoski, who was a recent healthy scratch in Dallas, but whose shone he can be a quality, top 4. He's been given more responsibility in Dallas.
He may well turn out to just a very good 2nd pairing d-man, as opposed to the 1st pairing d-man they are asking him to be, which is why he's struggling. He'd be a good replacement for Streit for the next 3-4 seasons.

Very good point. I think many of us should recall the Bill Guerin debacle.

I highly doubt there is any truth to this rumor. I know I've been harping on it, but it's gotta be Reasoner for a low pick if anything. Edmonton is hurting at center with all their injuries. If there is one thing Reasoner can do (and has a reputation for) is being good in the faceoff circle. The Oilers are pretty bad in that respect and have a need in their bottom-6.
