Post-Game Talk: Isles at The Powerhouse | 01/10/19 - 7PM - MSG

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Quinn has tried every iteration back there, so why not ADA-Smith? If they get an opportunity and click, that would be the most non-Alanis Morrisette ironic thing ever.

Negatives: Pionk is our 1RD in our long-term plans because the organization has just decided that. We've seen this movie before.
Hopefully Lundkvist or Keane or someone else can take that spot over before this rebuilds done. I would say Tony Deangelo but hes been all but banished to the Shadow Realm

I didn't watch for a variety of reasons, but when I saw it was 3-3 I turned it on figuring we would lose (we always lose when we're tied and I turn it on late). Then, I see shots are 13-0. In my head, I literally said, "1 shot 1 goal third period incoming for the Isles!" and as crushing as that goal was I couldn't help but laugh. Being a fan of the Mets and Jets is far worse, but the Rangers are good for that kind of stuff, too. I think most of us that have been watching for a couple decades or more knew that was coming.

Lundkvist and Keane could be Potvin and Doughty and they won't take over that spot. It's just been decided. Just like it was just decided that Girardi was a Norris-level D.

Like I said after last game, the one thing that's changed is that the Rangers are committing to a rebuild. That's good, and that's important. All the other stupid shit is exactly the same.

Too easy of a pass for Clutterbuck on Staal, Pionk caught spinning. Not a synergistic pairing for a pair that's stayed together for top minutes. Then again, Shattenkirk-Staal is horse trash. Staal-anyone is horse ****.

Staal was taking away the passing lane to the trailer, Cizikas. Not a terrible play by Staal as Pionk clearly had coverage on Bailey. That's mostly on Pionk.

I just want to mention that with about 5 minutes to go, I asked my dad what the odds were that the first Islanders 3rd period shot goes in.

So this might be my fault.
No, you are at co-fault. I just THOUGHT TO MYSELF that it had been a while we had held the opposition to 0 shots in a period. Then i thought, and had this deep down feeling that they had better hold them to zero......as Hank hadn't even touched the puck.....in fact when he did, right before the goal.....i laughed and thought, yeah Hank, u just wanted to feel a part of the game. Yeah, i just knew 1 shot, 1 goal. Hank had a ZERO sabe pctg. in the 3rd, doesn't get worse than that. Unless u give up 2 or more without a save.

Pionk is overrated. He's undersized. He plays this jitterbug style that's not confidence inducing. He can play at a pretty high pace, but his passes coming out are not accurate, he gets pressured too easily with the puck, and he's not stout enough defending. Even if you can coach the mental errors out.

This isnt about Lias, in fact I'm happy hes down in the AHL rn. Its about how you overrate Pionk most of the time and say people against pionk are biased even though your prob more biased about him
No one is safe from my criticism. Give me one example of my bias. One. I never said he had a great game. I never said he’s a 1st pairing defenseman. All I hear are negatives about him, and no one says anything about his good 2nd period. Why do we ignore the good plays he made, because of the really bad one at the end of the game?

Of course he made some really bad plays tonight, but he also made a few good, smart ones. Talking about both is the definition of being unbiased, and you’re just being intellectually dishonest.

People love to hate on him, and if you say anything that doesn’t go along with the groupthink, you’re called biased. Make your own opinions, and stop with the recency bias.

I think the only real question is do the Rangers win over 30 games this season? I’m a solid no and on record that I thought they would win under 25. That looks a little low but I think between 25-30 seems about right.

Waits for the Skjei like contract for Pionk in the summer to get him "locked up" for the future.

I doubt that.

Give Pionk next game off, bring Tony back in.The effort in the 3rd was the best they've had in weeks...just a crushing loss.
This loss (that maybe they deserved to win) kind of squashes one of thise that they won, but didnt deserve. The cream will rise to the top, and the sugar will sink to the bottom......if you don't stir it.

We are in prime mid season form. Right where we should be and only going to keep dropping further. More losses on the way fellas.

Pionk isn't bad considering he's a rookie D man. Fans who judge him by comparing him to veteran D men are misleading themselves.
