Pre-Game Talk: Islanders @ SENS, Friday 7:30 pm

I find it much easier adjusting when I get to Europe. I stay up a few extra hours and I’m good to go the next day. It takes me 3-4 days to adjust when I fly back to Ottawa.

Best start we’ve had in 7 seasons.
For me it's the opposite. I just came back from Russia and every time I go I find it much tougher when I get there. Mind you, it's an eight hour difference.

You have to stay up a lot of hours when flying to EU, every time I've gone its been an overnight flight landing morning their time. Sleep experts recommend treating the day as normal when you arrive and go to bed at your usual bedtime.

Loose schedule « you cant get into a rythm »
Tight schedule « Its tiring »

Cant be blamed for losing games if you already have the excuse in place

I have a close friend who regularly travelled to Russia and spent upwards of three months in Russia, in total, per year…. this freind was employed there, and still would be, until the Russians invaded Ukraine. He decided it was not safe for him to travel there, and has not been back since the war began. Not sure if he is overreacting, or because he is an American citizen, or something to do with the nature of his employment while over there….. so am a little surprised that you’ve been to Russia, as I thought most Western governments have issued warnings to not to travel there, after the war began…

Definitely agree that travelling west is way easier. Going east destroys me. I have heavy sleep requirements generally though

I generally upgrade on the flight going to Europe so I have the advantage of getting a good sleep which allows me to get through the day. I try to get to sleep around 10PM that first night. Coming home messes me up because the airlines do everything possible to get you to sleep even though you land mid-late afternoon in Canada.

Very strange for such a long delay.

Traveling West is so much easier than East. There is no way they require until Friday to be ready, particularly when they only had 2 days to get ready in Sweden? Maybe 3?

Going was Saturday game to Thursday in sweden
Returning Saturday then a Friday game.
Pretty similar.

He needs to miss two more games before he's eligible to return, as you have to miss at least 10 games if you go on LTIR.

Mendes was saying he looks really good in practice though.
That’s correct, also needs to miss 23 days, but that was easy with the Sweden trip.

Oh sorry we are good

mid week pre-friday game listening

"They should be hovering around 3 (goals per game)"

Really?
That would put them around 21st in the league.
Cant see them being that low.

The team should practice with just their jock straps and hockey sticks today - fans need way more exposure then we are getting

I mean its a pretty horrid schedule. I have never seen anything like this up coming month of December. 15 games mixed in with the worst longest trip of the year right in the middle of it. If they were going to have a heavy home schedule it would have been more fair to have it in the busiest month. Adding the travel makes this gauntlet almost impossible for the best teams.

If I am Ottawa I am refusing to go next year. Its a massive disadvantage in a league that already plays way too many games. They should be playing 60 max to begin with.

Schedule sucks but they have known about it and have had a ton of days off to nurse their injuries.

No excuses lets keep going the team has the advantage of being fresh

They have to find a way to get 4 points the next two games to weather the inevitable storm.

7 games in 11 days including a 5 game west coast road trip that includes the following teams.

Vegas, Colorado, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Carolina, Arizona and St Louis.

Wildly tough. 7 games 6 filghts.

I've been there 3 times in the last year, and in my travels have met many American citizens. Not everyone buys into the propaganda ;)

Sens never should have had the 5 day break from Saturday to Thursday in October, in the schedule. Should of been a Monday or Tuesday game in there.

Sportlogiq has there own set of data points that aren’t available to the public but I’d be willing to wager that more teams are over performing on goals than under performing, so that probably would put them more towards the middle.
