Pre-Game Talk: Islanders @ SENS, Friday 7:30 pm

This schedule is wacked.
Okay, an extended break for recovery from a 6 hour time difference, but the Sens only play once more this month.
That's 2 games in 12 days.
And then .....
WTF

And:
- the Wings play 5 more games this month starting on the 22nd (Wed.)
- the Leafs play 4 more games this month starting on the 24th (Fri)
- the Wild play 4 more 24th

All those teams have already played 2 more games than the Sens.

Having to play 30 games in 62 days (Dec., Jan.) doesn't make sense if they're only playing 2 games in the last 12 days of this month.
What gives?

why Andlauer inherited this mess is beyond me

Yep, irregular schedule.

Islanders are a good defensive team, with good defenders and a very good goalie. But, they have trouble scoring.

Senators should be able to handle the Islanders and will need to do so in order to keep leap frogging some of the teams above them. They'll need to be opportunistic with their good scoring chances as Sorokin doesn't let in the softies very often.

It seems that Dorion was also not paying sufficient attention to the scheduling, in addition to not keeping up with NTC clauses and lists.

Should we do a count-down-the-days-to-next-game in player jersey numbers?

Historically, Montreal always seems to have the inside track when it comes to the NHL schedule…so perhaps Andlauer has some insight as to how get a more favourable schedule, after being part of the Montreal ownership group.
Prioritising the NHL schedule, in your building should be number one…. Other “events” should be secondary if at all possible.

Like, if I'm Senators management, how tf would I ever accept this schedule? What's the goal here?

So what do you think would happen, if the Senators, or any other team rejected the NHL schedule, after all that went into it?

The laughter would be deafening.

The Senators are not the only team in the NHL, there are 31 other teams, and most share their buildings with NBA franchises and all these teams have to coordinate with each other to construct a schedule, based around building availability, which has to allow for other events, like concerts that book sometimes year or more in advance.

Complaining about the schedule is a waste of time, and will change nothing. Blaming the team for their schedule is equally ridiculous, every other team has the same complaints, but also know they’re all at the mercy of each other.
