So you are re-tooling, not rebuilding?
That would be the goal. We had a horrendous loss last night to the rangers and a bunch of fans are understandably in burn it all down mode, but we have enough pieces with enough value that we shouldn’t be stripping everything to the bone. Plus, the intermittent presence of “good Sorokin” will keep us from ever being truly bad enough to complete a real tank.

It’s not in style to have optimism on the Isles boards right, but our entire defense was decimated for most of the year… like 4 starters out at a time. 2 members of our opening night top line have both missed 60% of the season, and our franchise goalie is coming off of a late offseason back surgery. It’s plausible this is the lowest we will end in the standings for the next few years, so while I want to take advantage of that as much as possible IRT getting assets for aging UFAs, I’m not really trying to deal Barzal.

I'd do that for Pageau. Is retention possible? 5 million is tough to fit, something like 3.5-4 is more palatable
No retention as he has another year on his deal. We could take a UFA off your hands if he’s expiring this season.

Sorry dude, I wasn't clear. I think the 1st, a 3rd and Henrique is fair for Nelson at 50%.
I think that’s about what we’ll get for Nelson. Maybe a B- prospect instead of the third.

cost for pelech, or tsyplakov? both fit CBJ needs.

provorov for barzal, got it. you have a deal!
Tsyplakov stays. Pelech’s value is difficult for me to determine after so many injuries. I think we’d probably be looking for a younger Pageau replacement if we deal him.

Whats the price on Casey Cizikas?
5th.

What is the asking price for Pulock?
Same as Pelech, probably a hockey trade for a 3C or top six winger.

brother I hate to burst your bubble but these are not equivalent assets

unless you meant barzal, in which case… it's still the hardest of passes from the CBJ side
Just ignore him, he comes to every trade board to tell everyone that their assets are worthless and every player were desperately trying to move shits gold. He’s the loudest poster on the main boards, but don’t let it define how you think of our fan base - we’re generally pretty chill/reasonable lol

Relax guy, that would just be to balance the cap, you can do whatever you want with him after. Obviously if we want Horvat its because Mittelstadt is less than ideal and not pretending he has a lot of value. Richie would be the centerpeice as prospect with picks and other potential prospects. I said it would start with Richie and Mittelstadt.
The add would be a first and yeah, I would do it. It’s a little more than we gave up for him, but the Nucks had a cap squeeze and we don’t.

I saw Barzal originally which is why I said Marchenko. Isles have no interest in Provorov even if his dog is the star of the show. Hopefully you guys make the playoffs over the Ottawa Bridge Trolls and Detroit Wolverines.

Lou just slumbered in his chamber.....

Lou Lams when next he awakens to talk to the press -

Henrique is the Oilers 3C and they need to upgrade in three spots: Center, so a guy like Nelson, 2nd pair right side defense, and in goal.

I think the Islanders have guys who can improve the Oilers line up, even if they're just rentals.

Whats the price on Casey Cizikas?
1000% truth.

Lou cares more about facial hair, low jersey numbers, and no announcing his signings because he thinks it gives him an advantage as opposed to actually doing what's best for the organization.

I think you're taking "fire sale" too literally. On HFBoards it basically means that change is necessary and all of that teams' players are available.

It doesn't mean that Dobson for a 5th is a fair deal.

Roughly a 2nd, but again Lou is the GM so he's going nowhere.
I would be surprised if Cizikas got a 3rd or 4th, he's a shell of his former self.

Could he rebound in a fresh, new environment? Sure, but no one is going to pay a price that is expensive.

It’s more so the fact people think that the Isles are still the Mike Milbury ran team who dumps anything of quality for a bag of pucks and calls it a day. If we’re talking name our price, you’re not going to like the ideal player I want in return for Horvat as the main piece in return from Colorado and it’s not a pick/prospect, it’s a LW. That would be a hockey trade instead of rebuild type of deal that this is.
If its Lehkonen you are referring to that would be a tough sell but the 2C hole is big enough, it would be unwise not to consider it. Nuke can play top 6 LW, Colton can slot in for stretches, hell Parssinen is playing there now and if Landeskog can somehow make it back and be effective in the top 6 the loss of Lehky would be softened somewhat. Its tough though as if somehow Nuke stumbles again or Landy cant come back the Avs couldnt really afford to lose a player like Lehky.

Proposal - (I am a Sens fan, for full disclosure)

To Ottawa:
- JG Pageau (2x $5m)

To NYI:
- First choice of one of the following assets (ranked in order of my perception of value): Hoyt Stanley (NCAA) / 3rd 2027 / Oskar Pettersson (3x $0.835m) / Gabriel Eliasson (OHL) / Luke Ellinas (OHL) / Javon Moore (USHL)/ 5th 2026 / Filip Nordberg (USHL)
- Second choice of one of the following assets after STL selects one (ranked in order of my perception of value) Hoyt Stanley (NCAA) / 3rd 2027 / Oskar Pettersson (3x $0.835m) / Gabriel Eliasson (OHL) / Luke Ellinas (OHL) / Javon Moore (USHL)/ 5th 2026 / Filip Nordberg (USHL)
- Jacob Bernard-Docker (1x $0.85m, RFA)
- Blues choice of Alexandre Texier (2x $2.1m) OR Mathieu Joseph (2x $2.95m) OR NYI 5th 2026 (owned by STL)

To St. Louis:
- Choice of one of the following assets after NYI selects one (ranked in order of my perception of value) Hoyt Stanley (NCAA) / 3rd 2027 / Oskar Pettersson (3x $0.835m) / Gabriel Eliasson (OHL) / Luke Ellinas (OHL) / Javon Moore (USHL)/ 5th 2026 / Filip Nordberg (USHL)
- David Perron (2x $4.0m)

That would be the only player I’m interested in honestly. Say the Isles lose Horvat and Nelson, they’re essentially gutted with top 6 centers and even if Barzal shifts back to center he needs someone who can play with him. Colton is realistically a 3rd liner and once again Mittelstadt is terrible. The Isles realistically don’t need to move out everyone not named Barzal/Sorokin to get back filler pieces for a full rebuild. That would be downright terrible and a massive mismanagement of assets even if there’s a few quality prospects coming back. Without having quality veterans to develop the prospects, the Isles would be Chicago level horrific with no real bright spot down the line.

so essentially it’s (added the names so it doesn’t confuse me as much) or did I read it wrong:

OTT: JGP
NYI: Stanley, Pettersson, 2 cap dumps (one expiring, one with an additional year)
STL: Eliasson, Perron

We definitely do, I just don’t think the Oilers have assets that they want to give up to acquire both. I think they’d be outbid for Nelson too, but who knows.

Isles say sure why not

What would mayfield/pulock cost?
Realistically if Lou was smart, it would be for futures (with actual upside that doesn’t top out in the AHL). Mayfield ideally would be a cheaper option (guessing pick such as an 2nd/3rd and prospect) . Pulock still holds value as a top 4 RHD but if it was futures it would be a 1st and a prospect or 2nd and a prospect with true NHL potential.

the provorov thing wasn't serious lol it was a response to someone saying the cost for barzal is a 2015 first rounder, which is what provorov was.

maybe something around del bel belluz then? he's 21 years old, has been a point-per-game guy in the AHL this year and was really impressive in his call-up (8p in 15gp).

Pulock is probably best left for a hockey deal for a 3C or second-ish line winger. Mayfield can be had for the Toews Special
could be something around pulock for chinakhov then. hasn't been healthy this year but when he was he looked like a legit top six difference maker on the wing.
