I think the Oilers need guys like Brock Nelson and Ryan Pulock.

What would be the realistic ask for Nelson @ 50% retention? Oilers happy to trade a 1st I would think. Maybe Henrique goes the other way to even the money out. He is having an okay year but the Oilers need to upgrade several positions. Happy to add another pick to make this happen.

Oilers also need an upgrade in the mid pairing right side. Pulock would fit nicely.

Both are on your #1 PK unit, correct? Edmonton needs help in that area as well.
Henrique has too much term and is another mediocre middle/bottom 6 option. So him with a late 1st really doesn’t do it for both of what you’re asking.

Well, Nelson is a pending UFA, so the retention for New York is short term.

Henrique is under contract for one more year. That's it. That's not exactly a lot of "term". He also hasn't been bad, it's just that the Oilers need an upgrade at center if they're going for it this year.

I'd say a 1st and a 3rd for retention purposes and Henrique *should* get it done. For Nelson that is.

Then again I am an armchair GM so what the hell do I know.

Any team needing Center depth would love Horvat. Avs would start with Richie and Mittelstadt.

Do us a favor and tell the entire Avs fanbase that no one wants Mittelstadt. He's thrown out in every Avs offer on these boards and thus Avs fans are missing the point that if they're so willing to deal him, he doesn't have that much value.

An Islanders fan, or fans should post what they'd be looking for for their top players that will likely be asked about, or just say they're not being dealt and go from there.

Might help stop Newhook, 1st and Pezzetta, or something for Dobson

It sucks how much Henrique has declined over a 1 year span. He went from aging better than Perry to suddenly aging worse than Perry.

Asking for Pulock too and offering a 2026 1st (2025 1st isn’t available from Edmonton) with a 3rd liner really isn’t it. Ideally it would be for futures, not cap dumps to offset late 1st rounders. That was the issue. Even with just Nelson at 50%, a 2026 1st/3rd and a cap dump with term has been beat by teams offering prospects instead of aging veterans with term. If it’s a cap dump, it’s an expiring one in June not one expiring in an additional year.

It’s a “fire” sale. The islanders are selling for cheap. Offers will reflect that.

Please change things up NYI.. I wanna see some excitement come outta the Islanders one of these days. Always just such a boring/blah type roster every damn year.

No offense at all to the fans

Isles need another consistent top 6 scorer who’s not useless defensively in the same age range as Barzal. Outside of that, replacing the aging veterans with younger options who can play in a system. Ideally removing Nelson, JGP, Palmieri, Lee and possibly Pelech, Mayfield too. Toss in Engvall getting sent to the sun.

Realistically they build around: Barzal, Horvat, Holmstrom, Tsyplakov up front and Romanov/Dobson (unless the offer blows the Isles away) On the back end.

cost for pelech, or tsyplakov? both fit CBJ needs.

provorov for barzal, got it. you have a deal!

Sorry dude, I wasn't clear. I think the 1st, a 3rd and Henrique is fair for Nelson at 50%.

Pulock would require additional assets.
We can agree to disagree on that, but I think it's fair.

Lightning offer a second and one of Darren Raddysh/Emil Lilleberg/Nick Perbix for Kyle Palmieri. Am I way off on this one?

Ha. Nice.

Actually I was replying to a Bruins fan asking about Barzal. If you're not familiar with the 2015 draft go check how the 1st round played out and you'll get the joke fully.
Only if you swap 2006 3rd round picks with us. You get Figren and we get the rat.

Remove Henrique (too much term even if it’s only one additional year) and add in an expiring veteran instead. Even then teams have beat it offering a 1st and prospects on here without asking for retention. Henrique is more of what the Isles need to get away from, not add onto the roster.

Whats the price on Casey Cizikas?
The Toronto accent being shipped to Pluto. Also, Nick Roberson is banned from being included in trade offers unless you’d like Pierre Engvall back.

Trust me when I tell you that the Isles aren't selling at all. If you see them sell off any players for futures prior to March 7th that means that ownership got involved. Because in 40 years of being a GM Lou rarely sells off players. He just doesn't understand not going all in all the time.

Isles are gonna be poverty as long as Lou is there. Dude is too stubborn to sell

I agree. But the thread title says “fire sale”. That equates to damaged goods for cheap.
Lou Lam will likely buy another club’s damaged goods though. Maybe damaged goods for damaged goods?

1000% truth.

Lou cares more about facial hair, low jersey numbers, and no announcing his signings because he thinks it gives him an advantage as opposed to actually doing what's best for the organization.

I think you're taking "fire sale" too literally. On HFBoards it basically means that change is necessary and all of that teams' players are available.

It doesn't mean that Dobson for a 5th is a fair deal.

Roughly a 2nd, but again Lou is the GM so he's going nowhere.
