I flipped this game on and it’s the first I’ve watched all preseason. Reminded me of why I typically refuse to watch any devils preseason time, because I find myself getting aggravated at shit as if it’s a real game. And based on what I saw, the defense is going to be a problem this year, as many of us have speculated.

Luke had some ups and downs. If Bahl Marino and Sieg Hamilton can reall shut the door. There won't be a ton of minutes for Luke gaffes. But he will probably add a lot on PP2.

Dear lord. Did Jack Hughes get faster? He was doing whatever the hell he wanted.

Nate's definitely the best. Nate's the best player on the 4th line.

Now that were good we should get rid of the New Jersey lottery sponsorship...it gives me flashbacks.

Doubt it's gonna be a huge problem, might take a small step back, but it's worth it for the huge step forward eventually.

Also, I sense Colin Miller is going to be a whipping boy all year, much like he kinda was this past year in Dallas. Not sure he and Luke look like they’ll mesh well, might need to switch that up come regular season.

Nemec has looked great so far. If he keeps this up and Miller keeps looking like complete dogshit as he has all preseason, he should be on opening night over him.

Unlikely they do that but they should.

The thing with Nemec is I think he will just get better and better the longer he’s around and the more comfortable. First couple games he had some nice flashes but also some plays where he hesitated a bit or didn’t seem quite adjusted to the speed. Tonight he’s looked confident and just been getting involved and making good plays and I think that’s what we could reasonable expect from him. Also love his movement in the ozone. See’s lanes and things a lot of other players don’t see.

Could always go:

Siegs - Dougie
Luke - Marino
Bahl - Miller

but Marino and Bahl have looked good.

He's a warm body, just like Smith. So of course he's going to be the whipping boy.

The switch should be putting him on waivers or 7th D but that’s unlikely to happen.

Unless he turns things around because it’s not a big simple to be fair.

It’s just hard to see how you keep a worse Miller in the line-up when Nemec playing way better.

It’s pre-season and being a new defenseman isn’t easy so who knows.

But I don’t know why people are fixating on Holtz when Miller been the worst potential regular.

Not sure they’re willing to try to launch Luke and Nemec at the same time but Nemec has been better than Luke so…

To be clear I can see an argument for him needing the icetime in the AHL.

I think you're right on the whipping boy. I give it 2 maybe 3 games before some are saying why is this guy in and Nemec is not? It might be a valid question but Miller won't have any leash with our fans and Nemec out of the lineup.

I think it comes down the the penalty kill. They need a 4th guy to kill penalties regularly outside of Siegs, Bahl, Marino. One of those guys take a penalty you are left with two regular penalty killers on the backend.
