Strals made a LOT of "quiet" plays (he was in front of Nabokov for Brassard's goal for example). Staal has been playing like a beast again. McD has now scored what, three or four goals from shots in his own zone? That's got to be close to a record, haha.

Girardi deserves a mention.

Hope Hagelin is ok after that slash from Tavares. He swung that stick to hurt, I don't care how good a player Tavares is. Bush league, shame on him.

McDonagh needed and deserved that goal. He's been snakebit offensively.

My stars were Hank, Brass, and Nash.

Hank and Brass were easy choices. Hate to leave Staal off but Nash was EVERYWHERE. Staal will do just fine in the poll regardless.

Also, Marc Staal is back, and it cannot be overstated how huge that is for this team.

Nice 3rd, ugly 2nd, but they pulled out the win in excellent fashion. Staal was amazing, got robbed of a first star but Hank was lights out and deserved it.

True. G had a very good game as well. The whole D had a good game--though Moore was rough at times and I didn't notice Klein at all (which is a good thing for a player like him).

I don't really get the votes for Brass though. He didn't have a bad game per se, but he didn't really have a good one either. He seemed to have a lot of trouble controlling the puck on his stick. Yeah, he scored the goal, but that was a perfect pass by Staal and Stralman had Nabokov screened. If Brass had screwed that up, it would have been egregious.

Why in everything thats unholy does Richards play 6 more minutes than the Brass line, and 4 more mins than Kreider,Nash. Am I missing some big impact they're showing when they arent doing anything ?

Same, Brassard was pretty average most of the game and that penalty he took was terrible.

Brassard should get more mentions, he had 8 shots in only 14:40 TOI. Quite a few dangerous ones as well and he controlled the puck well in the offensive zone. We got something similar to 2013 Playoffs Brassard tonight, it'd be nice if he could show up on a consistent basis.

Great result for a terrible 40 minutes of hockey initially. Have to be pleased with the outcomes. Tremendous performance by Henrik. This is truly a game they win because of him.

8-3-1 in January with a .938SV% 1SO and a GAA ~ 1.90. Has potential to be one of the three stars of the month.

Staal has been OUTSTANDING recently. Guy is a work horse for us.
