Stepan has gotten a point in 5 of the last 7. Kreider got a point in one of those 7. Not sure what you have seen, but the stats kind of shoot a hole in your opinion.

Don't bother. Stepan stole his lunch money.

I'll stick up for Boyle again.

He does certain things very well. He does other things not as well. As he fighter he's horrible. But when he's used properly and he sticks to the things he does well, he can be extremely effective. Especially for a 4th liner. I think that folks hoping for his exit are likely to disappointed.

Or it could just be that he's a lot, lot slower than Nash and Kreider. Anyone who centers Rick Nash is bound to pick up secondary assists here and there :sarcasm:

Agreed, he is an extremely steady player. There is a reason why he is put out at the end of games. Big shot block last night.

A delayed penalty is a delayed penalty, whether 5 on 5 or 4 on 4. Play will be blown dead as soon as the infracting team touches the puck, therefore the team with the puck is able to pull their goalie and have a manpower advantage on the ice. If they score during that manpower advantage, they don't then get a subsequent manpower advantage to score a second time.

Yeah, I understand. In Europe they think like this, if you have two penaltys and a goal is scored, you let the guy in the box with the least amount of time hit the ice. That is the same in the NHL. But, over here we apply the same thinking when one guy is in the box and there is a delayed penalty on the ice and a goal is scored. Ie, send the guy in the box out and call delay penalty if a goal is scored.

For example, if you play 5 on 4, and there is a delayed penalty, but you score on 6 on 4, the guy in the penalty box is sent out and they still call the penalty.

This was happening way too often for my liking last night, Nash must have did this on at least 4 occasions. That line also missed the net a lot - there was a shift in the 3rd where Nash, Stepan, and Kreider all had prime scoring opportunities and shot it high and wide.

I like it.

I mean, on 3-4 occasions Nash was darn close to scoring what would have been a GWer. That really put the Islanders on their backs, and we started to get back in the game and get up ice again.

Kreider needs to be more consistent and find more ways to get involved. All over the league you see "stars" play on a line with more of a energy player. Its not the stars fault ever when the energy player plays 6 games and gets involved 5 times.

I know many love Kreider, for a good reason, and he will become a good player for us, but, its not Nash's role to get Kreider involved in the game. Its the opposite. Lets not confuse those roles.

I hope you are wrong unless he takes a paycut.

So you think Boyle brings more to the table than Dom Moore?
I think that there is a marginal difference between the two, and that no team needs 2 4th line centers. However, I do think that Boyle is a more integral persona in the core of this team. And I think that on a team that lacks size and grit, yes, he does bring more to the table.

Agree. And Boyle at 1.8 isn't that far off. Those couple of hundred isn't our cap issue. And you need to have some consistency, our bottom six has been changing every season, that is not a good thing. Boyle brings it every game, he's not the flashiest of players, but he sure has heart.
