Makes a ton of sense to trade him for a pick to get Hagens, I’m just not sure what team makes sense with that.
Oof than 21 this year along with the 27 2nd and one of their three thirds in 26 pinto,yak,21 pick ,27 2nd,26 3rd for Dobson,Palmieri and 2 4thsOttawa doesn't have a 26 1st
Palmieri just re-signed and has a NMC.Oof than 21 this year along with the 27 2nd and one of their three thirds in 26 pinto,yak,21 pick ,27 2nd,26 3rd for Dobson,Palmieri and 2 4ths
He actually has played some on the left side. If memory serves, he played a lot of LD on the Memorial Cup teams too.
Matheson + Mailloux + 16 + 17 for Dobson
What’s the ++ part? If it’s anything from the list, I’m walking:#16 + #17 ++ from Montreal.
I don’t agree with that. Dobson was 4th in shots among defensemen last season on the PP. In 23-24, he was 3rd in primary assists on the PP. Over the last three seasons Dobson is top-10 in points and shots. Dobson is elite offensively. We need to give him gifted players to play with. No, I’m saying he isn’t a great PP QB, he’s a great rush and transitional offensive D.
He didn’t get replaced by DeAngelo, and even freaking Mike Reilly at times without a reason.
I think he would have more to offer than Sanderson on the blue line for the pp at least not that Sanderson isn't good I feel that is more of Dobson's cup of tea being just a bit more creative and would do great playing on their pp with tckachuk Stutzle and batherson at the same time they could run a a traditional 3-2 first pp unit and let chabby run the 2nd unitNo he certainly wouldn't based on the fact Sanderson finished second only to Makar in PP points this year, which I get not a lot of people realize. At very best he would play with Sanderson on PP#1, but he more likely would just supplant Chabby as the #2pp guy
I think he would waive for Ottawa for a chance at the yoffs but who knowsPalmieri just re-signed and has a NMC.
I think Reinbacher + #17 is fair.No to both Habs players listed. Upgrade the prospect to start.
It's possible, just not likely. Hardly any teams use 2 D on their #1 unit for good reasonI think he would have more to offer than Sanderson on the blue line for the pp at least not that Sanderson isn't good I feel that is more of Dobson's cup of tea being just a bit more creative and would do great playing on their pp with tckachuk Stutzle and batherson at the same time they could run a a traditional 3-2 first pp unit and let chabby run the 2nd unit
Obviously, if they could get Hagens (Philly, Seattle?) at 6/8 they should do that. My hunch is those teams won’t want to pay him $10M, and give up Hagens for the privilege.
I could definitely see Montreal being involved with one or both of their mid-1sts. Carolina as a Slavin D partner is interesting. Late picks, Morrow and Nadeau as potential returns.
San Jose needs a RD (or any D!) I don’t really want a $10M Dobson as our #1 dman, but we have plenty of assets if he’s available.
My hunch is NYI are looking to use Dobson to get Hagens. If, as I expect, that fails, I don’t think they’ll want to move him for something like Morrow/Musty+late 1st+okay Roster player.
Sens would not be looking for, nor have the room for another declining old wingerI think he would waive for Ottawa for a chance at the yoffs but who knows
Are you saying you'd rather have a late-ish first over Pinto?I think leave pinto out and just do yak with the 21st pick as the base
Absolutely not for that 2nd list of unimpressive pieces. first list replace Reinbacher with Hage.I think Reinbacher + #17 is fair.
If not, then you look at #16 + #17 + 2 of Beck/Kapanen/Mailloux/Heineman/Struble/Roy.
Good luck with that. Jordan Staal was traded then signed a 10 yr 60 mil ext in 2012 when the cap was just over 70mil meaning he was around 8.5% cap hit. Also Staal was coming off a 25 goal 50 pts season in which he played just over 60 games while being used as a defensive center primarily with Crosby and Malkin getting the ozone. There was reason to believe given a chance he could be a scoring 2 way center. Dobson is coming off a tough year with a rumored demand of over 10% of a teams cap. As I said apples to apples he'll pull a mid to late first, a prospect and maybe a later pick/prospect if you get teams bidding.Jordan Staal was a year from UFA and was traded for Sutter, Dumoulin and pick #8 in 2012. Dobson’s value should be similar.
I you don't want Reinnacher, Hage + #17 is done deal my good sir.Absolutely not for that 2nd list of unimpressive pieces. first list replace Reinbacher with Hage.
Sergachev has a pretty favorable long term contract while Dobson is asking for way too much money. They are not really comparablesIf he gets dealt, I imagine the return would be similar to Sergachev from last year.
Serg was traded for Geekie (recent 11th overall pick), Moser and a 2nd.
If Dobson settle for a ~9M/yr on an 8 years contract then we have a deal.Absolutely not for that 2nd list of unimpressive pieces. first list replace Reinbacher with Hage.
Dobson settles on that and he stays. Dobson holds out and asks for $10m+ and he’s getting moved. If Dobson settle for a ~9M/yr on an 8 years contract then we have a deal.
Yes, we should all be comparing D that need new deals to the best d-man in the league that signed his deal close to 5 years ago coming out of a pandemic with a flat salary cap. Brilliant take.
I'd rather pay 10m now for 8 years of 10-12g, 35-50a Dobson at RD then try and find another one in the coming years as the cap skyrockets. Should be pretty easy to find an RD with those stats for Makar-like money then. They're always available. Maybe we can find our Forsling on the waiver wire.
Lots of Habs fans sure willing to ship Mailloux out the door. Wonder why?
