Proposal: Isaac Howard to MON

Sheary's cap hit is basically buried and comes off the books next year anyway. No reason to package with Howard. I think a lot of teams are beating this offer in TB's eyes by dangling a decent defensive prospect.

I know Sheary's cap hit is near irrelevant but cap space is cap space, it's certainly not doing the heavy lifting in the offer it's more of a throw in but maybe on the second half, would be interesting who gets offered i suppose

Just make it Howard for #17 overall, that looks more simple and fair to me.
While the value is pretty fair, I still just think TB would prefer someone who is going to be able to play sooner. I may be delusional but I would think the Kings, who are in need of some youth and some scoring touch, would entertain the idea of Howard + picks of some kind for Brandt Clarke. Maybe a similar offer to Philly for Cam York. Something like that. I don't think JBB is just going to sell him for a draft pick who might or might not be Isaac Howard level in 3 years when the window will probably be closed.

I can't speak for Montreal fans but I'm not sure I'd do this in their position. It makes no sense to give Tampa anything they actually need or something as potentially valuable as pick 17 that they can turn around and flip

That would be a big no from the Kings.

It's a stretch in the sense that LA would need to talk to Howard and if he agrees to play there, I don't see why they wouldn't. Clarke was scratched a ton over the past season and will be blocked from developing unless Gavrikov walks. Otherwise I honestly don't even think Brisebois will care if he ends up with the compensatory pick.

Kings have no place for Howard, IF he even makes the big club. There is zero chance they’re going to trade their top young defensive player for a minuscule guess. Clarke played his first NHL season and progressed throughout the season. His time scratched was not a result of his play, Hiller addressed that at the time.

I said we probably need a roster player for Howard but I would still consider this.

I'm not sure why MTL would do this because it seems Howard is dictating where he wants to go.

We have no leverage so it's better to let him go and we are awarded a 2nd.

I personally hope no one signs him next year and that will teach players coming out that they can't always get what they want
