Proposal: Isaac Howard to Chicago

I would gladly trade a 2nd and 3rd instead of Allan. Hawks can let Allan and all the other LHD continue to perculate and sort out the winners and losers later. Allan sure seems like a solid bottom pairing NHL D that offers the ability to play either LHD or RHD in a shut down capacity.
I would trade a 2nd, 3rd, AND Allan for Howard

I'd much rather get the player with actual NHL experience who could help now and in the near future if I was Tampa. Allen would be preferred to a 2nd+3rd, neither of which if used are helping Tampa's current core during this win now period.

Chicago has a huge surplus of defensive prospects. I imagine Tampa would have their choice of Crevier, Del Mastro, Allan, Kaiser, and perhaps Korchinski.

If I'm Tampa, I ask for Korchinski 1-for-1 OR Del Mastro & a draft pick.

I am a big fan of Del Mastro.

Problem is, I'm not sure you can get a player who will meaningfully help Tampa in the next couple years for Howard alone.

Tampa's sword of Damocles right now is the advanced age of Hedman and McDonagh. It wouldn't be a bad idea to trade Howard for a LHD prospect with clear top-4 upside. Though I'm not sure Allan is necessarily the right target.

I guess there would be a strange symmetry to it. Wasn't Allan drafted with the 1st rounder Tampa traded for Savard?

There's no way Tampa is getting that highly ranked of defensive prospect or young nhl dman, no. However, getting someone like Allen or EDM from Chicago would bolster thelr blueline for the remaining window and provide them with a young player that could, at least partially, begin taking heavier minutes when those two are either gone or no longer as good. I'm sure Tampa will be using the rising cap, likely next summer or at next year's tdl, to add a bigger name dman as well (since the F core will still be in good shape overall).

Kaiser could be good fit for TB as well

He is already established NHL talent and only 22

Vlasic-Rinzel
EDM-Levshunov
Korchinski-Allan
(Crevier)

Works for me going forward for Hawks

2nd and 3rd call it a day.
As a lifelong Hawk fan who lives down here now (for over 30 years) and has been a Lightning STH, you are crazy to prefer a 2nd and 3rd over Allan and ESPECIALLY if you could get Korchinski.
(Just an opine, but somewhat educated)
2nd rd picks are 50/50 to ever play in the NHL and 3rd rounders even less.
If Allan doesn’t get better he’s still a solid 3rd pair guy if he continues to develop (no reason to think he won’t) he’s a rock solid 2nd pair guy.
Korchinski will be a good 2nd pair guy (with offensive upside) and if he hits he a top pairing level guy.

People dis Korchinski because Chicago already has 3 young #1 defenders who currently sit ahead of him.
If they get him in a deal I can finally retire my Hamrlik sweater.

Musto is considered a troll by most on the Hawks board. He didn’t want Allan when drafted. He has history of trashing guys he didn’t want no matter what they develop into.
While the guys he wanted are generally busts it doesn’t stop his hatred.

Granted I get the % chance is low beyond the 1st round but you realize Guentzel and Point are both 3rd rounders? It's not an anomaly that a early 2nd and 3rd still can provide value. Howard hasn't even stepped on NHL ice yet.

I mean, we hope if Howard signed that he can contribute in Tampa but he could sign play and be meh.

Understood but Korchinski is on the Bolts 2nd pairing today. … with additional upside.

Looks like it won’t happen though.

It sounds good to me hypothetically speaking if there is a deal between our teams.

all of us on HF Tampa hope Howard and Tampa can come to an agreement. None of us wanted this to be an issue. But If he's a bust at least he's our bust.
