Proposal: Isaac Howard to Chicago

If you want to trade with TB, you must offer an NHLer. TB just dont care about young players since a decade.
True at the TDL, not so true at the draft. I think we will take the best value, be it pick, prospect, or roster piece. My guess is we end up with a pick.

Chicago is the perfect trade partner for this. Multiple 1sts, several D prospects.

I’d definitely move Korchinski and even a pick for Howard. If I’m Tampa I’d ask for Del Mastro instead, I really like his game.

Regardless, I’m sure Kyle Davidson would be in on this.

Would love for this to happen, but I feel like Chicago would be bailing us out by assuming the risk of him not signing. I assume Chicago or any team only does this with some assurances attached

Only a few games left to burn that year. Seems like he might just be truly heading back and possibly going UFA. I thought it was just posturing.

Traded at the draft and then sign? Is that not an option. If Hawks says he will be given every chance to play in NHL next season he will earn more, so he should take I think, and playing with a combo of Bedard, Nazar and maybe Moore should be exciting.

He's 1.5 years older than Korchinski and they are going to compete for a top 4 role. Vlasic already has 1 of the 2 LD spots locked up. EDM might play a different style, but he is the superior player and you can't not start him from what he has shown. If anything, we have Levshunov and Rinzel playing the type of role Korchinski brings on the right side. Howard has outgrown his draft stock a ton. He has very much shown he projects as a top 6 forward.

Rinzel is the Hawks most promising defenseman in the system. I know people have been saying Levshunov, but Rinzel has looked much better and is only 16 months older than Levshunov. I'd even argue to say Rinzel is still not as physically mature as Levshunov. The reason I'm stating that in this thread is to state the pecking order for trade propositions
You say “only 16 months older” like it is insignificant, that is a huge deal when you are talking about 18 - 21 year olds, especially for d-men and goalies.

To :hawks
LW Isaac Howard

To :bolts
D Nolan Allan

TB gets young NHL ready defender (Who got first NHL experience this year with Hawks) while Hawks get a young forward prospect

Both players were also late 1st selections (Allan 32nd overall in 2021, Howard 31st in 2022)

Obviously, this is all contingent on Howard willingness to sign with Hawks

Lightning really don't need another steady LHD

Absolutely no one in the history of ever offers a 20-21 year old defenseman this freely in a trade unless he is a trainwreck. See Nemec as a comparison. This reminds of years of Leaf fans offering up Bozak and Kadri in every trade ever knowing full and damn well they wouldn't be missed.

Not sure we need NHL ready who is a question mark but are looking for a comparable prospect who is currently developing or first round pick.

That said if it's a pick, i don't think Howard is worth a high first so I would take a 2nd and 3rd from Chicago as long as Chicago stays a bottom team next year.

I mean sure done. Think the only reason the hawks poster offered up Allan is the hawks current depth of young dmen. He was solid for his time up with the big club this year.

I think this is the going rate if Howard doesn't sign as a condition of the trade.

Thing is we are not sure Allan is comparable to Howard so that's why I think we prefer to take our chances with picks

I think with Chicago's 2nd and 3rd next year we can potentially beef our system with 2 Dmen and Chicago gets a good prospect in Howard.

No problem at all with that sentiment. I’d trade both picks for a signed right now howard.

Get it done

Chicago plays their last game tonight

We've got maybe 2 hours max to get Howard to Ottawa from the Detroit airport

Davidson, Brisebois, hurry the f*** up

Lightning really don't need another steady LHD

Allan plays both LD/RD so he is versatile

He spent a good chunk playing RD since he was drafted

That would work for Hawks

We have three 2nd's next year (Hawks, Leafs and Isles) so can afford to move our own 2nd + 3rd

I would gladly trade a 2nd and 3rd instead of Allan. Hawks can let Allan and all the other LHD continue to perculate and sort out the winners and losers later. Allan sure seems like a solid bottom pairing NHL D that offers the ability to play either LHD or RHD in a shut down capacity.

I mean at some point Hawks have to make decision and someone will be on outs

Right side looks set

Rinzel
Levshunov
Murphy (Until he is traded)
Crevier (When Murphy is gone he is our everyday RD on 3rd pair IMO)

But we have

Vlasic
Kaiser
Korchinski
Del Mastro
Allan

You can't hold onto guys forever and if Hawks land #1 spot and decide to go Schaefer it makes situation even more in need of decisions to be made

To me Kaiser and Allan look to be real potential trade chips (Also Bowman picks not Davidson)
