In what way is Russias roster even close to USAs?In what way does Russia have better ds than Sweden?
I think they can match up with Team USA/Finland
Definitely not Canada or Russia. That bottom 6 is considerably weak with the exception of Bratt.
It’s easy to assume this team is better due to name recognition and status of the top 6-7ish. I get that this post got many likes, but I’d say depth is not as good as today. This was the 06 Sedins (good but not close to their peak a few years later), Holmström is due to name recognition mainly, and Samuelsson come on, and so on.2006 Turin:
Alfredsson
Sundin
Forsberg
Lidström
Sedin
Sedin
Holmström
Samuelsson
Kronwall
Lundqvist
Zetterberg
etc.
In what way does Finland have much stronger forwards than Sweden? The whole offence is quite bad tbh - the fins are much stronger in forwards and the Swedes have better Ds (right now)
In what way does Finland have much stronger forwards than Sweden?
Bratt - Pettersson - Nylander
Landeskog - Zibanejad - Forsberg
Eriksson Ek - Lindholm - Burakovsky
Kempe - W.Karlsson - Rakell
Arvidsson
vs
Lehkonen - Barkov - Rantanen
Laine - Aho - Teräväinen
Granlund - Hintz - Tolvanen
Maccelli - Luostarinen - Kakko
Its not big difference. Where are you getting "much stronger" from?
Zibanejad, Lindholm, Eriksson EK are great 2-way players.I think the Swedes top forwards are missing quite a bit in terms of 2-way abilities, they compensate for that with an awesome D - but against the top teams they suffer again. Landeskog can't do all this work.
Difference is Barkov vs. Pettersson
Aho vs. Zibanejad
Zibanejad, Lindholm, Eriksson EK are great 2-way players.
Yeah, maybe this would be better:I think Zibanejad is average, at this level, in 2-way abilities (while good in the NHL).
Lindholm/Eriksson yep.
Problem is, in these tournaments, you'll want most of our lines to be competitively in the plus. I can't imagine Bratt-Pettersson-Nylander being much in the positive, for example.
Pettersson is the best two way player from that list of names you mentioned.Zibanejad, Lindholm, Eriksson EK are great 2-way players.
