Definitely not Canada or Russia.
I disagree. Russia is actually bad on D and centers. They have a team with wingers and goalies. I feel Russia is 4th of the big4. Canada is obviously the favourite here and USA comes second.

Solid team, but I don't think it is on par with a Team Canada or Team USA. Probably Russia either (should they even be allowed to compete).

Also, the nicknames of the lines are pretty odd...

I think they can match up with Team USA/Finland

Definitely not Canada or Russia. That bottom 6 is considerably weak with the exception of Bratt.
In what way does Russia have better ds than Sweden?

Are you serious?

Besides Hedman and Karlsson, no one on the Swedish Team would even be considered for Team Canada. They would make us look like an AHL team at best.

A good portion of homerism is ok, but this is just ridiculous.

Mika Zibanejad, Gabriel Landeskog and William Nylander are locks. Hampus Lindholm and Linus Ullmark would probably be selected to a roster as well. You just have to get accustomed to the thought.

And have you heard of Elias Pettersson? Or does the telegraph don't reach the Atlantic?

Finally, rearrange these letters: Har D LsM A ni us

Top 3 roster after CAN, US?

Even Steven between Sweden and Russia I think. Last time the russians couldn't score on team Sweden. Now their defense is deeper and their forwards have the best season ever.

Hypothetical 1994 Team Sweden could have possibly be the most well rounded Sweden ever:

Mats Näslund - Mats Sundin - Håkan Loob
Ulf Dahlen - Peter Forsberg - Mikael Renberg
Johan Garpenlöv - Michael Nylander - Tomas Sandström
Patrik Carnbäck - Thomas Steen - Mikael Andersson
Per Erik Eklund

Nicklas Lidström - Ulf Samuelsson
Calle Johansson - Kjell Samuelsson
Tommy Albelin - Fredrik Olausson

Tommy Söderström
Tommy Salo

Best.. no. Most well rounded.. probably. Zero flaws. The Swedes are this year's version of the NYR where they have Norris calibre D, Vezina Calibre G and a great forward group.

Mika might get a roster spot, but not Gabbe nor Nylander. Pettersson is coming of a great season, but up until now he’s been mediocre.

I’m from Sweden and realistically we are far from the golden years of Foppa, Sudden, Lidas and so on. We have good players, but none that can compare to those guys.

Oh boy the irony.

Meaning you don’t believe Hedman and Karlsson would take a spot on the Canadian roster?

I think Team Sweden never had a fourth line like Kempe - Eriksson Ek - Bratt before.

Landeskog - Zibanejad - Pettersson
Forsberg - Backlund - Lindholm
Rakell - Bäckström - Nylander

Great team

I think they are 3rd behind Canada and USA, and in front of Russia and Finland

Defense is great, as always
They are lacking top tier talent in front tho

As a non-Swede, I think Pettersson would make Team Canada. Zibanejad and Ullmark probably would as well.

Brayden Point - Connor McDavid - William Nylander
Brad Marchand - Sidney Crosby - Nathan MacKinnon
Pierre-Luc Dubois - Mika Zibanejad - Elias Pettersson
Gabriel Landeskog
- Bo Horvat - Matthew Barzal
Mark Scheifele - Jordan Kyrou

Darnell Nurse - Erik Karlsson
Shea Theodore - Alex Pietrangelo
Victor Hedman - Cale Makar
Jakob Chychrun - Dougie Hamilton

Carter Hart
Linus Ullmark
Jordan Binnington

Unfortunately we don't have that MANY players right now aspiring for top tier status. Mika, Hedman and Landeskog are our strong leaders, though. And you need international tournaments for younger players to shine right away. Where the tempo is high. I remember when Roenick and Sundin were the best players and still young.

See if Rasmus Dahlin can keep Owen Power behind! And Elias Pettersson just had a five point night.

Should there be a U23 tournament every year? Maybe at the start of season? Or as the SC is in semis.

What we need is either a World Cup or Winter Olympics

Sweden could go for the gold medal if they can avoid Canada (and USA)

Prime Backstrom would make this team look insanely deep, I’m not sure about his status though. This team is stacked with great two way players though and would probably do well in the Olympics.

Good team.

Landeskog Pettersson Kempe
Bratt Zibanejad Nylander
Raymond Lindholm Forsberg
Burakowsky ErkssonEk Karlsson

Hedman Karlsson
Lindholm Dahlin
Brodin Andersson
Larsson

Ullmark
Markstrom

I think the following would get serious looks for Canada, many would make it.

Pettersson- one of the top players this season, emerging as an elite 2 way player.

Landeskog- Canada doesn't have enough wingers of this calibre, likely makes it.

Lindholm- 2 way ace, versatile at C and W

Bratt- would compete for a spot, possible injury replacement.

Zibanejad- in the mix, top 10 centre this year. Would depend how many centres Canada

Hedman- even in a down year he'd be a lock

Karlsson- game breaker frok the blue line, lock
Brodin- one of the league's best defensive defenceman,

Dahlin- would be in the mix for sure, if not a starter would be a substitute

Ullmark- would be Canada's starter lol

Maple Kronors

Dubois McDavid Stamkos
Landeskog Mackinnon Marner
Marchand Crosby Bergeron
Point Pettersson Lindholm
Konecny

Toews Makar
Morrissey Karlsson
Hedman Doughty
Brodin
Dahlin/Chabot/Hamilton

Ullmark
Jarry

Russian bottom 6 is worse than swedish, centers-worse, d-man-worse

Russia’s goalie tandem is just plain disgusting

Vasilevskiy
Shesterkin
Sorokin

Ullmark
Gustavsson
Markstrom

is also pretty good

Have they ever made a documentary on the Swedish team that won the 2006 Gold? It would be fascinating to see the players discuss the tournament and whether they threw a game.
