Is this the most well rounded Team Sweden ever?

If I was the GM for Team Sweden and the Olympics started tomorrow think this team would be tough to beat for ANYONE:

Forsberg - Pettersson - Nylander “Skill line”

Landeskog - Zibanejad - Lindholm “Power line”

Bratt - Backstrom - Burakovsky “Slick line”

W. Karlsson - Eriksson Ek - Kempe “Checking line”

Hedman - Karlsson “Norris pairing”

Lindholm - Dahlin “Next ones pairing”

Forsling - R. Andersson “Silent stars pairing”

Ullmark “Vezina level goalie”

Solid team, but I don't think it is on par with a Team Canada or Team USA. Probably Russia either (should they even be allowed to compete).

Also, the nicknames of the lines are pretty odd...

Yes, if Bäckström still was great.
Top 6 is good, but not awesome. Lanseskog doesnt boost skill to top 6. He is at best a swedish Hyman, to bad hands and finesse. You clearly miss a Zetterberg, or an Alfredsson. Brainy players.

The 2006 olympic team was great, and so the team in salt lake, that beat Canada with 5-2 or something, they where great, but Hardy Nilsson was an awful coach, and sweden in whome underestimated Belarus heart and pride for their country.

Forsberg, Sundin, Alfredsson, Lidström, Ekholm, Kronwall, Zetterberg, Sedins, Bäcksrröm, just too far good than today. Imagine- one of those forwards plays 3rd line.

M Näslund Forsberg Alfredsson
Zetterberg Bäckström Sundin
Sedin Sedin J Lundqvist (Sedins where full of themselfs, ignoring the 3rd wheel)
Holmström N Sundström (face off specialist) M Nylander

Close to perfection. Just as good as Canada in Vancouver. Or Canada -87

Defence of

Lidström U Samuelsson
M Norström Kronwall
C Johansson M Öhlund

I think they can match up with Team USA/Finland

Definitely not Canada or Russia. That bottom 6 is considerably weak with the exception of Bratt.

I guess it's a well balanced lineup if you consider that it's probably the weakest top to bottom Team Sweden roster in a generation.

2006 Turin:

Alfredsson
Sundin
Forsberg
Lidström
Sedin
Sedin
Holmström
Samuelsson
Kronwall
Lundqvist
Zetterberg
etc.
You could probably split the 2006 squad up into two teams and both would be better than the one in the OP.

It seems like you just gave a bunch of fun nicknames to a relatively average national team roster lol

Are you serious?

Besides Hedman and Karlsson, no one on the Swedish Team would even be considered for Team Canada. They would make us look like an AHL team at best.

A good portion of homerism is ok, but this is just ridiculous.

IMO the 2002 Olympic roster was possibly better and 2006 was definitely better.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a very good team. But there have been better Sweden teams historically, and there would be better hypothetical competitors if a tournament were to be held tomorrow.

Oh boy the irony.

I know nobody watches him because he's on the West Coast, but that guy on my avatar to the left, Adrian Kempe, is 3rd in the NHL so far this season for goals by Swedish players, and on these lists he's relegated to the 4th line.

And last season? Also 3rd in goals for Swedish players. I think he might be good at scoring goals, guys.
