Kirby Dach is on the verge of a stellar breakout year, and it couldn't come at a better time. After dealing with more injuries than a piñata at a kids' birthday party, Dach's finally primed to show everyone what he's made of. Welcome to the Big Boy Decade (BBD), where size matters, and Dach's got plenty of it. He's spent the off-season pumping iron and sharpening his skills, looking more like a tank on skates than ever before.

But it's not just about the brawn; Dach's mental game has leveled up too. After fighting through injury setbacks, he's developed the resilience of a rubber band and the focus of a cat watching a laser pointer. With a newfound confidence and a supportive team backing him up, he's geared up to dazzle fans and leave opponents in the dust. This is Kirby Dach's year to shine in the BBD, and he's about to make the hockey world sit up and take notice with a blend of power, skill, and a sprinkle of sheer determination. Get ready for a season where Dach is the name on everyone's lips—just make sure you spell it right!

He looked so good very early on for CHI, then broke his(hand?) in training for the WJC's, and it seems to have been a rocky, injury riddled ride ever since. Hopefully he is not the next Cody Glass.

Fantastic when he's on the ice but that's been well below 50 percent of the time in Montreal. If he can't stay on the ice this upcoming season you have to look elsewhere at that point.

Good PP weapon, but hasn't shown much 5v5 individual production at any point (19 points career high 5v5), and some pretty bad possession numbers outside of a stint on Suzuki's wing (which he has lost that spot to Slaf).

Depends on what you consider a breakout.

A good 5v5 season where he can crack 30 ish points 5v5?

A season where he finally has some decent possession results?

A season where he can help MTLs PP become an effective unit around 20%?

Or are we just going to say he has a breakout if he stays healthy and gets 4 minutes a night on a bad PP again

Did Dach hire a used car salesman as his agent?

I’m confident he would’ve been one of the top players in his draft class if it weren’t for injuries, maybe 2nd behind Jack Hughes. Hoping he’s able to bounce back nicely.

Big boy league where...
  • The Art Ross winner was 5'11
  • The Norris winner was 5'10
  • 2 of the top 4 scorers in the NHL were under 6'0
Even then, I'd eat my hat if Hughes is actually 5'10. Size helps with the depth guys but obviously you can be a star without it.

I've never noticed Dach at the professional level. Good luck to him but I wouldn't expect that much.

Before he got injuried, Dach looked like he was going to play like Slafkovsky played for the second half of last season.

Big body that nobody can reach which means he's extremely good on puck protection. Also has a solid IQ. He just has to stay healthy, he already showed he can be a very good player.

He looked really good with Monahan in 22-23. His ability to play off the rush AND off the cycle make him a versatile player. I'm hopeful that he can have a healthy and productive season. IMO if he has the former, he'll have the latter.
