As good as he’s been the past several seasons (when he’s been healthy enough to play), Kucherov isn’t even a PPG player in the NHL over his whole career.

At their best, Kucherov was a better playing than AO. 2018-2019 is way better than any AO's best season.

Some people will get salty over it but it is what it is. Kucherov is a much much much better playoff performer too.

At their best, Ovechkin was much better than Kucherov.

Ovechkin's 2008/2009 was only slightly less dominant point-wise compared to the league (small enough to be trivial imo). The glaring differences is that Ovechkin had one of the best goal scoring seasons of all-time, and Kucherov was nowhere even remotely close to that.
-> PLUS, Ovechkin had 50% of the help from his team that Kucherov did in his year.
-> Side-note, Ovechkin was also 9th in the league in hits that year.

Ovechkin's 2009/2010 was also better. Yes he missed those 10 games, but it's close enough to a full season to extrapolate/compare. His dominance in points was the same, but then also kills the league in goals, and still has less team-help than Kuch did.

Just watching the highlights of both seasons you can tell who is more skilled.

Kucherov is a great player, one of the best of his era perhaps, but Ovechkin is a top 20 players of all time, and arguably the best goal scorer ever too.

He defined an entire generation with Crosby.

Ovechkin's legacy is pretty much untouchable by players not named Crosby or McDavid

How do you go about to measure "Hockey skills IQ etc" objectively then?

I take Ovechkin everytime and I think that people here are downplaying Kucherov's skills, but its pretty tough to objectively say one is better than the other.
