Is the WJC overpriced?

I was planning on taking a week or two off next year in order to go to as many games as possible, but after taking a look at the pricing I doubt I'll be able to go to 4 games. Pricing is between $2,076 and $3,350 for 29 games.

I paid $68 to watch Czechs play Kazakhstan in the Smaller arena on Ottawa. So yes.. it's way too much.

I will say Ottawa did a nice.job. never made it to Kanata but the vibe around TD place was really cool.

You could get full packages of the games at the Canadian Tire Centre for ~$1,000.00 in Ottawa this year (worst seats, though). That includes all Canada and USA games, plus medal rounds. Works out to under $100 per game.

It sucks that it’s that expensive for U20 hockey, but it’s a pretty popular tournament (at least in Canada). I don’t think it’s the worst price compared to other live sporting events.

WJC used to be by far my favourite part of the holidays growing up. Since everything that’s happened with Hockey Canada in recent years, I’ll never spend another f***ing dime on them. Or waste another second watching this tournament. If you’re a fan of another country I can understand why you’d still care, but if not, then why bother…

That price will come down. They are locking in the rich guys early. Minnesotans love hockey, but not in the % that Canadians do. Tickets will become cheaper as time goes. I love this tournament, but attending 29 games or whatever is insane. I could probably do 5, max.

Honestly it wasn’t that bad. This is a once-a-year tournament so you have to expect higher prices.

I watched Finland-USA game and I was in the 100s for about 120 CAD.

That’s cheaper than a Sens game or very similar price. Helps that I got a great game though.

During tournament, or close to it I’d say, they try and sell only the packages first.

They said that in Buffalo the 2nd time and between the price and the lake effect, it kept Canadians and locals away.

I don't want to take this more off topic than it already is, but I would say it's less to do with that and more to do with the consolidation of all sectors into corporate controlled entities where the duty is to the shareholders rather than the communities they serve.

in general yes those ticket prices are insane but we must make an exception for the past few years when ASP is playing since watching him live is priceless

Preliminary rounds weren't bad this year. Went to 3 games at CTC, 2 combined were 60usd. Top section but low seats. Canada Finland was the only expensive one but I see why.
