Is the Golden Knights' problem Jack Eichel?

They look badly coached
Eichel looks pretty darned good for the injury, surgery, and time off. I thought he’d be way less effective until next year.

Injuries have a) allowed them to put off their cap mismanagement
But b) put them in a bad spot

Theodore, Karlsson, Lehner haven’t performed for various reasons.

As a Ducks fan, I think it would be hysterical if they missed and moved way up in the draft, just to eat popcorn and watch the meltdowns on HF🤣

He has 19 points in 25 games coming off back surgury.
Eichel is not the problem.

The guy managing the salary cap, must have got his accounting degree from a correspondence school.
It will be interesting to see what the Knights do in the offseason to fix things
They are really challenging the concept of a salary cap so I think the cap guy went to art school.

The NHL is a difficult league.
They've managed the team like a 15 year old playing CHEL.
They haven't been able to absorb those key injuries this year, and no it's not simply Eichel.

Eichel is playing fine, vegas has a lot of key pieces hurt right now which seems to be the main culprit. Considering Eichel probably doesn't have the best chemistry with his new team after being injured most of the year I fully expect him to play better eventually but that may not happen till next year. It takes a little time to mesh with new teammates usually

In the biggest game of the season, Eichel did not record a shot on goal or any other stat until 1 minute left in the game.

Eichel killed the Golden Knights.

I wouldn’t call him “the problem”, but they didn’t commit a massive trade package and $10M/yr with the idea that he would produce middle-6 numbers or disappear down the stretch. Something really seems off with him.

Four straight games with goose eggs. Shame.
The Knights have lost 3 out of those 4 games. Two of those losses were at home to San Jose and New Jersey. All during the most important part of the season where it is do or die. This makes Eichel's 4 game point drought look even worse. Let's face it, in those two one-goal losses to New Jersey and San Jose, they could have benefited from Eichel stepping it up a notch or two. After all, they are paying him 10 million dollars.

probably that whole coming back from a career-ending injury thing

Maybe the off-season is what he needs to get his game back. But he’s the one who insisted on coming back ASAP, he’s the one who insisted his choice of surgery would give him a 100% recovery. If this is the caliber of player he actually is going to be in the future, Vegas bought a bill of goods which could really hold them back for the next few years.

Just a reminder Sabres fans that are trying to dunk on Eichel, your team isn't actually yet good or even really better than when Eichel was there. You also undoubtedly lost your best player, and a player that isn't replaceable. May not be the time for some of these comments.

If you guys are better than Vegas in a year or two and Eichel is playing bad then, that would be the time. I'm not sure its really dunk-worthy that Eichel hasn't been at his best after coming off a neck surgery and that he's the one you should really be looking to blame on a team that had plenty of problems before him and makes a lot of enemies around the league for how they go about their business.
