Countless playoff failures, refusing to adjust his lines (when was the last time marner and matthews were split up?). At what point do you stop giving Keefe the benefit of the doubt?

Today's game against the Pens, it's clear the Knies-Matthews-Marner line was not good, when asked post-game Keefe responded with "I thought they were great - no issues with them" - seriously?

16 and 34 are his meal ticket. He has their backs. I'd like to see him give the second PP unit get some PP1 time. Stop cateering to the core all the time.

Good idea to jettison Keefe but the problems within this franchise run deep and there is no quick fix.
Could start with that defence we lost defensive forwards for offensive forwards gotta switch out some of the d

Keefe + Core.

The regular season is one thing but Keefe is the worst playoff coach in the business. That's an issue I have been pointing to for years now. On the other hand, the core is the reason this team is top-heavy and they aren't good enough to warrant that type of cap allotment.

Too many days are taken off by these guys. Sometimes all of them together.

As others have pointed out already, he is not the issue, but he is certainly an issue. The unfortunate reality is that this organization's problems have spread way too far to the point where any sort of quick fix or retool isn't going to be possible. Treliving isn't a good GM. He's an issue. The "core four" idea is an issue, particularly when half of that core isn't interested in putting in the effort relative to their salary (Auston & Mitch). They have no legitimate #1 goalie. They have no legit defensemen to help out Morgan Rielly.

The biggest issue of all is Shanahan himself who runs this team like a nursery school. Guy is a complete fraud - a charlatan that has destroyed any hope of this team ever being a legit contender despite having the most talented roster in club history. It all starts with him. Give him the axe and work your way down through the organization. It will take many, many years of pain and suffering to rebuild this team into a legitimate cup threat. Sad, but that's the way it is. They're just delaying the inevitable.

We can’t change anything apart from trading Willy to a select few teams who would be interested, selling even more assets that we don’t have to try and improve this team, or fire Keefe. Pretty obvious which should come first here.

I don’t care what our record says, watch the games and tell me this team can win it all. You can’t, so make changes or lose another year.

Listen to his comments on Marner tonight.

He can't even tell his stars they need to be better. As spineless as the nitwit who hired him.

Keefe is a bottom-5 coach in the league at this point in time. Why he's still being kept around is completely beyond me.

Always has been. Except this year he is contending with a terrible defense for the biggest issue.

Yup. A lot of people in the early dubas days after signing M&M had hope. But when dubas said the words “We can and we will”, I knew several painful years were to follow. Dubas gave all the leverage to 2 young men who had no problems being grossly overpaid on their peers, and at less ufa years to boot. I always thought dubas was the issue, and I still think he sucked, but all of this has been on Shanahan’s watch. The best thing leaf fans can hope for is to miss the playoffs. That will get MLSE attention. This making the playoffs and winning a round after years of playoff embarrassment only adds fuel to the fire to make MLSE think “let’s stay the course, we’re about to break through”.

Keefe's post game presser was gut wrenching.

Throwing Robertson and Timmons under the bus. While completely absolving Matthews and Marner. Those two played another 24 minutes together.

Despite stinking the place up.

Marner making hope passes and showing no fight against the boards are a coaching issue. When a player isn't held accountable they will continue doing whatever they want. What motivation is there to change if no one is punishing you for your stupid fundamental mistakes?

They need a coach that hold them to the highest standards of accountablity.

Keefe is soft. The Benjamin Disraeli of coaches. "Peace for our time" and other such nonsense.

He just kisses the stars butts so he still has a job.

They need someone with balls who will kick these lazy donkey's asses. The team is already out of a playoffs position after American Thanksgiving. Why wait until they are buried so far they can't get back?

Just fire this loser now.

Yes, Keefe is the issue. He doesn't have a clue how to coach these guys. You could pluck a 10 year old child from the stands and have a better record than him.

"Peace in our time" was Neville Chamberlin in 1938. Benjamin Disraeli basically built the Tory party and expanded the British Empire. He was also a novelist and man of letters. But for sure, the Leafs have to be better.

It was originally Disraeli.

Chamberlain borrowed it later.
Yeah, but Disraeli was talking about the success of of the Berlin Congress where Africa was divided up between European countries - not all of them of course. You used in to imply weakness (of Keefe) thus as Neville Chamberlain-- Disraeli himself, got the phrase from t Hy E Anglican Book of Common Prayer.

Is Keefe the problem .... ummm .....

He is the biggest issue - he comes across clueless and defensive in his post game scrums and he feels like a guy coaching his buddies.

Zero accountability and just complacency all around.

Every thing about them right now screams mediocrity

- This Stanley Cup contender is tied in the league standings with Detroit & Philly, one point ahead of other Stanley Cup contenders Caps, Canes (they have been horrible), Islanders
- 22nd in GA per game
- +1 on GA-GF.
- 29th in PPO - Suggests they dont work hard enough with the puck, if you have the puck you should be forcing the other team into difficult defensive positions, apparently we are a one and done team.
- 15th in PPG - see above
- Tied for 6th with PPGA - Although they dont get a lot of PP they give up a lot of PPG A
- PK is 18th
- 16th in SF, kinda low for this scoring juggernaut?
- 16th in FOW
- GA% .896, 21st
- 13th in BS

does keefe have a clue? is shanabang telling him he cannot discipline the gold dust twins? who does marner have pictures of?
the quote below was from after the game last night when questioned as to whether he was concerned about marner

"One of the many reports I get before every game — I am reading through them before every game — is our five-on-five scoring this season. At the top of the list is Mitch Marner."

marner is 3rd in 5 on 5 scoring behind willie and auston ... and 1 point ahead of morgan ... for 11 mill it is not good enough in my view ....

need a coach to hold these guys accountable

Does anyone even think this team is a real Stanley cup contender anymore? We missed that boat and unless a drastic change happens, nothing will change and well continue watching this team get worse and worse.
