I feel like he would keep telling dumb jokes and then get offended if you don't react.

The way he talks is very dry. I mean, he seems like he would be telling you the funniest joke and at the end you wouldn't know to laugh cause you thought he was serious....

Excellent coach, appears to be a great human being as well.

Well deserved cherry on top of an impressive career.

Haters gonna hate

he has a very unique communication style. I think he would be actually quite interesting to have a shoot the shit session with a case.

I was actually impressed when he said he didn't win a cup....he got to share a cup.

Was a game away from being a big ol fraud, but now he’s a legend. That’s hockey.

Anyway, in recent memory it’s Bylsma.

Tkachuk told Calgary fans he beat Edmonton for them and Maurice won and hoped Winnipeg would win a cup. Good on both of them.

I’ve been saying for years, Maurice elevates bad teams to being average teams… give him a good team and he will go far. He showed that in Winnipeg and in subsequent seasons took the blame for what people weren’t willing to accept about that group of players.

Now here he is, with an actual good group of players, two Finals and a Cup in two years.

He is a very good coach, one of the most experienced in the league but still not a dinosaur. He has seen it all. At this point he has nothing else to prove.

He's such a likeable and honest guy - I can see why his team plays hard for him every night. Inspiring coach.

Reminds me a bit of Tocchet in Van.

The hate this guy gets makes no sense. Thirty year head coach, back-to-back SCFs, and a cup is a good enough career to be proud of.

He made a big difference when he first came to Winnipeg. But as with most coaches, he had an expiration date. He still got us to the WCF. Just should have been let go a year or more earlier.

How many of his teams were top tier contender talents? I don’t actually know his whole history but he’s definitely coached some mid or bad teams in terms of roster

We talk about the coach carousel, but most coaches who last that long probably have something. He strikes me as similar to Cooper, a blend of ‘players coach’ who also has the Tortorella blunt honest feedback most players love

I feel like the latter is easier to digest if you also trust and have rapport with your coach
