Is Ottawa good?

Don't be a homer. The Sens have been dominated in pretty much all their games since the Four Nations Cup. Their luck will end soon just like their playoff chances.
Since the 4 nations Sens have been 8th in the league with 54.67% expected goal share (per natural statrick). Not necessarily the be all end all, but they haven’t exactly been “dominated in all their games” outside of the Detroit game.

Don't try to gaslight me with some silly stats by a hack. I've watched the games. I know what's going on.

Why do people talk like ones a contender or elite while the other is average?

I think it because people expect the Sens to fade as things get closer to the playoffs kinda like people expect the Leafs to brown out during the first round of the playoffs. Not saying that's gonna happen but happy to see OTT in the playoffs, the Atlantic needed some new blood in the playoffs.

Leafs at their worse are still four points ahead of a streaking Senators team.

We’re trying to make the playoffs, they’re trying to win the cup.

Win the Cup? the Leafs? I don't think even their players or even their staff think they have snowball's chance in hell.

I see them live every year and they are legit this year. Very underrated club that has solid pieces on F, D and G. They could surprise a team in the playoffs.

They are 28-13-4 since December. That's even with their 2-5-0 skid last month. If you remove their bad start, that's the equivalent of a 51-27-7 record with a 109 point pace.

Compare that to October and November where they were 10-12-1, which would equate to a 36-43-4 - 76 point record.

This is obviously not an exact science, but they had a reason to be bad earlier in the year. A new head coach had just taken over, and there was a major change of players in the offseason. It takes time to adjust to that.

I don't seriously believe that they are a 109 point pace team, and I am not going to believe they are in the playoffs until they clinch, because they have shown that they can still slip up into their losing ways - but I think that they are a lot closer to the 51-27-7 type team than they are to the basement team they looked like for the first two months of the year. Everything seems to be coming together for them at just the right time.

Ottawa has been getting lucky while being outplayed in all their games this month. Expect a huge crash that'll drop them out of the playoffs real soon.
I'll take that bet any time, If I win you have to change your avatar to one even sillier. If you win you can decide to keep it.
