Is Ottawa good?

So Larkin = Stützle? I think Detroit’s fine with that.

Apparently Stutzle’s numbers are cause for concern but perfectly fine for Larkin.

Good to know where your expectations are.

I agree that they should be higher for Stutzle considering he’s a much better player.

The fact that being on pace for 82 points concerns you just goes to show how high the standard is for a player of his skillset.

Yeah the 39 goal season did seem like a fluke.

Thankfully, he’s only 23 years old so there’s plenty of time to determine that.

Just to update this it’s now 10 games, the longest of his career but his team is 6-3-1 in that time span. Not sure he cares about the points given the results. They’ve given up 2 goals or less on 7 of those games. They have matured a lot as a group and despite the recent scoring troubles, they have stayed focus on keeping the puck of the net.

They are good defensively, 7th in goals against, and poor offensively, 26th in goals for.

Not how most would have expected this team to be getting wins. Overall not bad. If they figure out how to score they could be a playoff team.

Stützle is on pace for 77 points.
Yes, expectations should be higher given his reputation is mainly based on one 90 point season.

For the record, I was critical of Larkin earlier in the season when he was slumping. Last 15 games he’s top 10 in league scoring, so he’s bounced back significantly. I still think Detroit fans are far more okay with Larkin hovering around 75-80 points than Ottawa fans should be with Stützle settling in at that level, especially considering the lack of goalscoring from Timmy.

Agreed, Stutzle is the better player and should put up higher numbers than Larkin.

If the team results are there it’s less of a worry. Ottawa is 14-8-2 in the last 24 games, Stutzle has 6 goals and 16 points in those games. It’s better than being 11-12-2 and Stutzle having 10 goals and 30 points like the first 25 games of the season.

Yeah but in reality it’s probably not a sustainable model for Ottawa to have success for Stützle to play at a 55 point pace.
