Is Ottawa good?

Goals against has never been their problem in the playoffs.

I’ve never been sold on the Leafs when it comes to the playoffs. Check their records.

Anyways, I'm not sold on Ullmark playing to this level the rest of the year AND him staying healthy. Sens have 1 goalie right now. Never a good thing.

Ottawa has the best goalie, best defence, and and best winger. Toronto has the better center.

Lets rumble.

Uhh, no. Leafs are better at literally every position than the Sens.

but somehow you thought the Sens are the same team as 2 decades ago be the leafs. 😂

End of the day, one constant between our franchises is when it matters the Leafs are Sens daddy.

lol, you realize you can just go to NHL.com and check that they aren’t,

But for those that don’t check you think you can sneak that in.

They were before the last game they played. Forgive me for being off by fractions of a goal as things move throughout the season.

Except in Toronto when they actually play the Sens and lose over and over again.

You mean in the regular season when the Leafs are barely paying attention because the Sens are a bottom feeder and the Sens are playing their ass off because they hate the Leafs?

Yeah, that’s right, those games that they keep losing to the Senators over and over again.

That attention span explains a lot about what happens when the games get important.

Nope wrong again lol
That can be checked as well

Maybe actually check before posting wrong evidence twice.
Hoping no-one will notice.

Ottawa will go as far as their coach takes them. And unfortunately they have Travis Green of all people behind their bench.

For sure, it has been a problem with the Leafs but is an easily verifiable fact (like their GA/game the other poster wants to argue about). Their record against the bottom teams speaks for itself last few years.

Sens though, would be a blessing to get them in round 1. Not sure they win a game.

Not the same team these days under Berube and Treliving. Went from high flying skill to grind it out toughness. We'll see.

The Leafs problem in the playoffs has never been defense, goaltending or “toughness”. It’s been scoring goals. Once they get past Game 5, they can’t do it.

This year, they’re scoring less than ever. Their problems in the playoffs are Matthews, Marner and Nylander, and those guys are all still the core of the team. One of them was named captain.

I remember when Leafs fans said that about Montreal and Columbus… or chanted “we want Florida” in the streets… all blessings in disguise I’m sure..

This level of overconfidence has been really successful for the Leafs in the playoffs over the last decade or so

This road trip will define the season IMO. Get 10 points and it sets ourselves up for the 2nd half where we have more home games where were usually better.

I like how Ullmark is defined by his past playoff experiences but the Leafs inability to win in the first round isn't.

Anyway, it's stupid to talk about this mid-December anyway.

I do agree with you that the Senators have a lot more to prove when it comes to the regular season.

Absolutely they do. They have a lot to prove in many areas. this is why you don't see many (if any) Sens fans making ridiculous statements like "I doubt (insert opponent here) wins a game against us".

Let's just Leaf that to fans of another team that brims with overconfidence with stunning regularity only to be followed by deep sadness and recrimination.

I agree with everything you’re saying, but I think we just need average goaltending from him and I think we might be okay.

Okay as we in we might be able to squeeze a wildcard out this season.

The Leafs are looking to win the cup every year, the Sens are trying to make the playoffs. The Leafs being a better built team doesn’t really affect me, and at the end of the day, I still think the Senators can take some games and even win a series against them. It’s hockey.

And now we have a goalie that might not be this great all year, and might even have stretches of not being good, but this motherf***er can steal games when he needs to and he’s shown that.

Can't argue with that.

This year, they’re scoring less than ever. Their problems in the playoffs are Matthews, Marner and Nylander, and those guys are all still the core of the team. One of them was named captain.

This is where the difference is though. Before the Leafs played a counter attack system for 82 games, and then once they got into the depth of a series basically played the trap and tried to win games 2-1 but didn't have the pieces on defense or in goal to hold steady. The forwards also had no experience scoring in that style of system. Then once they fell behind the other team just trapped.

This year the main difference is the defense is so much better. OEL and Tanev have made the D so much harder to play against and McCabe having strong chemistry with Tanev and playing like a top pairing guy for us also helps massively. Also the forwards are getting 82 games to learn to play playoff hockey and score playoff goals.

Not to mention our goaltending is legit for the first time since probably Cujo

I remember when Leafs fans said that about Montreal and Columbus… or chanted “we want Florida” in the streets… all blessings in disguise I’m sure..

When the Leafs lost those series the core was the same age as Stutzle. They were not contenders yet just a yearly playoff team. They have only been a contender the past few seasons IMO. But now the roster is one of the oldest in the league, they have a real NHL coach who knows how to win. Things are different.

I am sure the Leafs playoff record is due to fans having fun on the internet.

For sure, just having fun with my Sens bros. Been a while since we could really shit talk. Seeing us as potentially playoff opponents even this far out is exciting.

Theyre looking great right now. But we know they can play that way. They have before in seasons past in short bursts.

The question will be how they respond after they lose a couple in a row. Will they get back on track or lose 5 in a row?

That'll be the test this season. Consistency.
