Chabot was actually good at one point, he's just been over played his entire career, he is a fine top 4 d-man who is just the product of bad management and coaching. please dont make statements if you dont know what you're talking about.
That's your opinion . I hesitate to blame management. Chabot was a superstar in junior. I'm not way off to say he has never come close the expectations Senators bragged about when landing him.
Peaked pretty young.

They are far better than their record. I would not be surprised if they soon go on a run winning 5 or 6 in a row.
Are their on ice stats still pretty good? I remember them rating out solid offensively and defensively, but goaltending was killing them. So, I wouldn't be surprised if youre right, but that means Ullmark needs to earn that pay check. If that doesn't happen then...yikes. That's a lot of coin for a non impactful goalie.

5 on 5

xGA/60 is fourth in the league, fell from tied for first or second this week.

xGF/60 is 17th, that’s dropped the last few games.

Team 1200 guys talk about that a lot.

But it's also a bullshit stat, or stats.

You can't "expect" to score x amount of goals based on opportunity, or the reverse.

The first 10, or so games where the sens were trucking along it was pretty much all on their PP.

Their 5 on 5 game doesn't seem that strong at all and now that their pp has started to struggle and now you have the sens on a 3, or 3 game losing streak.

Every year, we are told that this is gonna be the year where Ottawa is going to make them playoffs, and every year, they crash and burn

We are looking at the Buffalo Sabres 2.0 IMO

I don't know what is the course of action for them. They have legit good assets but the team can't put it together
They have a mental roadblock for November. The team is talented enough to make the playoffs, but they fear early season failure so much that adversity really shakes their confidence way earlier than it should. It's kind of like Toronto and the 1st round of the playoffs, they let the past effect their performance.

They’re a team with 6 decent forwards, with only 2 being “top end talent” that struggle to produce 5 on 5. One of the worst D-cores in the league, and the goaltending typically reflects that.

This is like a virgin criticizing a non virgin for being hastey.

Too easy, in their top minute guys (other than BT) to play against. IMO Stutzle needs to go for the Sens to move ahead. And I also think he’d get a great return. He’s got flash and dash. The Sens could focus on returning experienced guys who are hard on and off pucks. I think it would be better for them. Right now, with just standing pat, they will fall away with the Wings. And imo the Sens are better than that. Live BT. He is a winner.

broken team

Giroux is yelling at green and other players on the bench

Tkachuk would rather spend time in the box or the dressing room

Stutzle is trying to fight a hobbit

With all due respect Mr. Fatass, Stutzle is probably the only glimmer of hope in the Ottawa organization. He's played consistently great hockey this year, has the heart of a lion, and is still very young. He is a guy you build a franchise around, not get rid of. If anything drastic needs to happen with the roster, then it would be retooling around Tim Stutzle as the heart of the team.

In my (fat ass) opinion the Sens need to trade one of either Stutzle or Brady T. Both would return significant amounts. The Sens need some really good vets out there. I think, unless they plan to rebuild again, that’s the direction they need to take. Imo both those guys would be coveted by every team in the league. Shop both and take the best return.

lmao are you kidding me? Stutzle is the one guy that actually looks like he cares. He's hustling more than I can remember. Tkachuk is the one that needs to go - his foot speed is too slow to be an nhl 1st liner and most the time he isn't moving his feet at all.

They are up against the cap and have some RFAs coming up. I don't see how they can improve the team. Their prospect pool is weak. They overpaid most of their players, probably because it's not a very desirable place to play / poor hockey market?

Maybe the best they can do at this point is fire the coach and hope for the best.

If they did want to trade players, then they'll probably need to offer players they want to keep, or attach draft picks/retain salary on the less desirables. All in all, it's a poorly run franchise. Their GM should immediately be fired after foolishly handing out that Ullmark contract!
