Is Ottawa good?

OTT is in a weird place, they have some good pieces but then their GM just completely sank the entire future with that Ullmark contract. That is a fireable offense right there considering he just set that franchise back another 5+ years. They are on what, their 3rd rebuild the past 13 years? That's terrible. I would not be surprised if they sell the entire franchise at some point. Something's got to give!

They are just the epitome of a poorly run sports team. I don't know how much longer they can hang on for. They are looking to put a new NHL hockey team in Atlanta, Georgia... maybe the future home of Atlanta Senators? Has a nice ring to it!

The Sens just keep bleeding assets like they just won a cup and are gunning for a back 2 back every offseason while never making the playoffs.

They really are stuck between Toronto and Montreal and i'm sure patience isn't an easy task for the market so they try to have their fans backs by being super agressive with their acquisitions.

Each of these acquisitions are blamed for the team's situation but the real problem is the Sens went all in when their core didn't even figure out how to win together yet.

I feel like the timing to be aggressive is when the team is trying to evolve from pretender to contender. If they need to blow their load just to escape the basement, what's the upside?

You realize the Senators were just bought last September right, and now have a new owner, GM and coach?

Something had to given, and it’s given. The old regime has been completely cleaned out.

It’s not going to turn around overnight though.

The Red Wings should consider doing the same thing to Yzerman that Ottawa did to Dorion (fire him). You can’t have the same guys who drove you into the ditch try to get you out.

Yzerman didn't drive them into the ditch.

He's just trying to dig his way out of that ditch.

He’s made quite a few head scratching decisions during his fairly long tenure there… this is what? Season 5?
A couple of those decisions (Chairot, overpaying for Copp) weren't so much headscratching when you realize Detroit had nothing in their pipeline and had to overpay guys to even remotely start getting out of said ditch. Like the Wings farm system was barren and kinda still is given it was gutted to hell and back pre Holland. You don't just recover from that in a year or two.

...Except the Holl contract. That one is just "wtf Stevie?"

The Ullmark trade did not set the Sens back 5 years lmao what the hell are you smoking, Ullmark is a fine goalie, the Sens are just a poorly coached, constructed team who have a lot of bad habbits.

Up front is good.
Back end is not.

Chabot was a star in junior.
Hes been nothing to write home about in the NHL.....and they play/pay him like he is better than he is.

Only one team declared the rebuild over though, if u listened to anything Yzerman said you would know this is a long build, he's not shy about it. However for the sens this is year 3 of the rebuild being over with nothing to show for it.

Chabot has been much better , with a decent partner like Jensen. Chabot has the second best plus minus on team now, behind Jensen.

Chabot was actually good at one point, he's just been over played his entire career, he is a fine top 4 d-man who is just the product of bad management and coaching. please dont make statements if you dont know what you're talking about.
