Is Ottawa good?

Past his prime lol? [mod] Sure, Ullmark can be our placeholder, you have fun with your 18 million dollars in placeholding.

Maybe not past his prime...yet. He is on a bad team with no notable defensemen worth mentioning on their roster. But he was drafted in the same draft class as Trouba and Maata.... so, yeah.

lol Sanderson is no good? Seems legit.

Having Detroit and Ottawa fans arguing about who's better is straight comical
To be fair, it's one little guy barking like a lapdog.

 After struggling against a .280% team (7-13-5 record) "about damn time the Hockey Gods are on our side!"

That pretty much sums up the SENS under their current regime.
You're completely missing the point.

The Sens have had some of the best underlying metrics and dominant performances, but kept losing due to bad bounces, bad goaltending and brutal breakdowns. Like when they lost to Philly after outshooting them 27-4 at the 2nd intermission.

This is finally the first time the Sens won a game they deserved to lose instead of losing a game they completely dominated, which happened many times this season.

Did the new GM correct the comment? I can't seem to find anything. Didn't Steve Staios just trade assets to sign an overpaid crippling contract? Or is he also a disgrace now?

That's not a move a "rebuilding team" makes. That's a move by poorly ran management (GM) regardless if the "rebuild is done!" or not. Is there information that Ottawa is starting another rebuild chapter? Seems endless.

The new GM, Steve Staios, came in and set the franchise back with one stroke of the pen. Ouch!

I honestly pity the OTT fans, and that is coming from a DRWs fan. Lol.

Are you ok? You don’t seem ok.

The Senators are going to be super streaky.

If Ulmark finds his game, they have a shot. Just gotta balance out the losing streaks with longer winning streaks lol

Good team on paper and that's about it. One of the worst managed franchises of all time. Just look how they handled their former captains (Alfy, Karlsson).

Being chirped by a SJS makes it absurd
What is with this kind of mindset lmao. I see it all the time on these boards. People gatekeeping someone having an opinion/thoughts because the team they cheer for? Like what?

It is comical seeing two fanbases of trash teams argue which one is better.

Exactly.

It’s not like Leaf fans hold off against teams that can actually win a series or two in the post-season.

A game that was further into the playoffs than any Leaf has played in since 2004, but ok bud!
I guess this is all you have to cling on to when you haven’t made the playoffs in 7 years almost. But ok bud! Leafs are atop of the division this year without Matthews.

BTW for all the flack the Leafs get “blow up the core, etc”, isn’t this like year 4-5 of this sens group? If anything the Sens core is absolutely rotten and should be blown up - because they absolutely suck.

They suck almost as bad as us, but without the pool of great prospects we have

It's a bleak day to be a Sens fan

2 points out of last place in the division

You just hate to see it.

Seriously though, when does it become time to talk about rebuilding the rebuild? Tkachuk is 26 start of next season, that is not a young guy anymore that is the prime of his career. Chabot 28, Ullmark in his 30's etc.

Are the Sens not a better team trading Chabot and Tkachuk (no one is taking that Ullmark contract) and building around then 23 year old Stutzle and Sanderson / Yak?

Weird seeing Detroit fans come in here acting like their rebuild hasn’t been just as trash. A Dallas 2nd rounder is more likely to pan out than a Detroit top 10 pick.

That's pretty specific to Melnyk, everyone is aware of that. Regardless Ottawa is not good, not even close and won't be for years to come. Pretty much worse case scenario right now. Don't have the right players, Coach, GM, Ownership seems to be the only thing working for them.

What recent dallas second rounder is better than Raymond/Seider/Edvinsson?

Stankoven is not better than any of those guys...

Yup. Sens need to throw in the towel on this iteration of the rebuild and try a quick retool around the younger guys you mentioned. Brady T would return a lot. Is current management smart enough to identify the right package of return?

Stars are finding stars like Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz and Stankhoven in the 2nd while detroits taking guys like Zadina, Rasmussen, Raymond, Seider ect in the top 10. It’s still early but the production from Kasper and Danielson is not looking promising for a top 10 pick. Detroit’s drafting has been bad for a while now and it’s a big reason their rebuild is failing.
