Is Mittelstadt turning into a low-end 1C?

Cozens is not a center at this point and may never be. And they didn't need more offense first defense either. Now they desperately need a top 6 center that can play both directions. It's truly mind bottling
The guys buffalo has traded away could be a team that absolutely dominates the current sabres. Absolutely crazy

Mitts steadily approved on the Sabres his last couple of seasons but he was trending for 68 points the day he was traded.

On the Sabres, he'd likely be close to that 68 point mark right now making $7 million dollars on a long term contract and the Sabres would be in the same spot they are in now.

Mittelstadt is a versatile, smart, ultra-skilled player who I think has PPG potential or near PPG potential.

Colorado won the trade. Byram would have to put up 55-60ish pts for it to be equal at this rate.

Most of Buffalo expected significantly more from Cozens. Mitts is also a veteran at this point. Cozens still has potential, but it is looking less likely like that will be as a center.

Playing 2C behind MacKinnon and then on PP1 with the 3 headed monster, it's a great spot to produce career high numbers. He was never going to be able to do what he's doing here in Buffalo.

I don't think Adams ever talked extension with Mitts agent. Our gm is a special combination of dumb and lazy. My two favourite Sabres were Reinhart and Mittelstadt. The organization didn't want to commit to any of them.

Happy for Mitts though. I think he'll continue to improve, both him and Reinhart were smart players that were a bit behind in the physical department, you could tell they'd age like fine wine.
Yep. By all accounts the Sabres never even attempted to negotiate an extension for Mitts or Reinhart in the season leading up to their trades.
