Was just revisiting his more recent trades. Obviously you have the Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat fumble from 5 or 6 years ago, but let's look at more recently.

February 26th, 2018 - McPhee acquires Tomas Tatar from Detroit for Vegas' 2018 1st, (Joe Veleno) Islanders' 2019 2nd, (Currently #52) and a 2021 3rd.

Tatar has a dismal showing with Vegas, only putting up 5 goals and 3 assists in 28 games, and was a healthy scratch during much of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Joe Veleno fell into Detroit's laps from his projected 14th spot. He plays a game so well-rounded that many Detroit fans wanted him to stick with the team into the regular season, despite his offensive game needing some work.

September 10th, 2018 - McPhee acquires Max Pacioretty from Montreal for Tomas Tatar, Nick Suzuki, and Vegas' 2019 2nd. (Currently #33)

Tatar currently has 9 goals and 8 assists in 20 games with Montreal, compared to MaxPac's 2 goals and 2 assists in 16 games. Suzuki also appears to be a very promising prospect, and is just outside the top 5 in OHL scoring.

So essentially over the course of six months, McPhee acquired MaxPac (Currently at a 21 point pace in the highest offensive season since 05/06) for the following:

Nick Suzuki
Joe Veleno
Two 2019 2nd round picks (Currently #33 and #52)
2021 3rd

Obviously he's nowhere near the Mike Milbury/Islanders territory of bad, but the only guy I can think of in this decade with multiple horrible trades like that is Chiarelli... And even he got high level draft picks back when he was selling away star players. (Minus Taylor Hall)

Dont focus on just the negatives dude. He ripped off many teams landing players like Karlsson, Smith, Marchessault essentially for free, including many more trade for picks and players, such as the one with the jets, receiving the 13OA pick (Suzuki) in exchange not to select Perrault from them.

Didn’t he also eat about 2 million in salary in that 3way trade last year for essentially no reason?

Only giving Karlsson a one year deal is probably the smartest thing he's done since the expansion draft, as it appears his shooting percentage has come back down to reality.

Forsberg for Erat is arguably worse than Hall for Larsson. At least Larsson can still play and is a top 4 d-man. Erat was terrible and retired shortly after where as Forsberg will be apart of Nashville's core for over a decade and is a 60-70 point player. Sure I take Hall out of all 4 players and he has the MVP trophy (which he would have never got if he stayed in Edmonton), but just for the future impact the Forsberg trade is just terrible.

I was expecting to see a few posters say Bergevin, but I guess he improved his pedigree this summer with the Domi and Tatar trades.

Chiarelli is worse than GMGM IMO. Seguin and Hall trades are just monumental fails.

People say erat didn't do anything after the trade, which is true, but Hall became MVP of the league and Seguin is a top notch player as well. He dealt away legit top 10 potential players, thats why I think he's worse.

He did it in order to make sure the Jets didn't get Brassard, but also to get Ryan Reaves, who seems to already be a great fit for Vegas. But the whole salary retention looks very pointless now.

I imagine he's really going to have to get rid of Clarkson's contract as late as the trade deadline.

No. Not close. His trade history is pretty solid. Yea, he traded Forsberg for Erat. That was as bad as they get, but that's one example. Most of the rest is solid to outstanding.

Sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone. The best trades are the ones you don't make. Don't fix what's not broken. I absolutely hate most deadline deals. McPhee also aquired Tuch and Theodore. It's Chia by a mile.

I’m not a fan of the jets move either, but it wasn’t to not select Perrault. It was to not select anyone, meaning Perrault, Lowry, Copp, etc.

Dorion is probably in the bottom 3.
Either he's been motivated by his puppeteer or a lot of his trades have been either short sighted or just down right pointless.

1 year of Burrows for Dahlen
1 year of Brassard for Zibanejad + 2nd
Hoffman for Boedker to have Hoffman be flipped for more than we got for him
2 years of Duchene for 7 years of at 6 million Turris + 1st + 3rd + Bowers + Dollar Dump
Karlsson for ???
