Is mcdavid too good not to win a cup?

Last LA goal was a fluke and.......I think it was Bouchard who gave it away (epitome of mediocrity 🤣), but Skinner REALLY is something else holy f***ing shit

Other than that, I think McDavid's putting up a 50pt playoff run this year LOL

perhaps his speed-oriented play style isn't as conducive to success in the post-season?

:facepalm:99 points in his last 54 playoff games:facepalm:

2022 to 2025 playoffs (30gp or more):

Not conductive...

His 5v5 goal differential in his playoff career without Draisaitl on his line is barely above 50%.

That’s a pretty lame criticism, especially given the Oilers poor goaltending. His 5v5 GF% without Drai over the last 3 playoffs is 57% and his 5v5 GF% in the playoffs overall is 60.4%. Some bad numbers in a small sample without Draisaitl early in his career is basically meaningless.

I think McDavid is going to walk to where? Idk but he’s gonna choose another spot, the Oilers management has straight failed this guy. He doesn’t need another Leon he need a solid all around team. The way he carried the team today and they still lost is a f***ing joke and shows why LD isn’t the f***ing Hart trophy winner, joke.

After 2016-2017, Sid and the Pens went nowhere. He was 29 and McDavid is currently 28. I feel like the window has closed for the Oilers. If he signs his next contract with them, he's cooked. Their prospect pool is shit, how do you even improve this team?

Anyway, with the Stan Bowman signing, Oilers showed that they are clearly not a serious team, he needs to leave.

Lots of players in the HoF without cups.
While true, that's an ignorant take. We're not talking about your average HOF player here, we're talking about someone who could blow up the consensus group of top4 players all time. And he still might, even without a cup.

Furthermore, there are plenty of marginal cases of players for whom a cup win was the thing that tipped the scale for HOF induction.

This is one stupid take since the Pens won b2b in 2016 and 2017. In 2018 they lost to Ovi who won the cup.

After tonight, He officially took over 2nd all-time in playoff pts/game, passing Mario Lemieux

1) Gretzky 1.837
2) McDavid 1.613
3) Lemieux 1.607
Given that he started quite underwhelmingly (9 pts in first 13 games and only an even ppg in his third playoff spring), this is utterly unreal. It's not too long ago when he was a bit back of Draisaitl, either.
