What is a bigger advantage? Having a talented team like Toronto to play on (instead of Edmonton) or have 5 more minutes TOI? No matter how you spin it McDavid is literally the entire Edmonton offense on a team that is badly coached.
5 minutes per game is a much bigger advantage without a doubt when you consider Matthews actual linemates, which included a guy who was a 13th forward on a non playoff team last season.
Marleau and Kapanen/Ennis makes up for the 5 minutes? Huh? Matthews isn't on a line with Marner and Tavares. And prior to this year he had Hyman stuck to him every game of his career.

You honestly think Matthews could keep up a high level of play when playing 22+ mins a night? I'm doubting it, that's a big body to carry around all night playing forward. Babcock made fun of the Oilers last year for playing McDavid so much, talking about how McDavid slowed down through the night saying it was exhausting him.

100% agreed. But all these deluded people cant see past the status quo. Sometimes Ovi was better than Crosby. Sometimes Matthews will be better than McDavid. Get over it people.
Of all the days to say something like this, you pick this morning?

Matthews certainly could have the best 7 games into a player’s third season of all time.....of all time!!!

McDavid on the other hand could go down as the best player of all time.

Are you joking? over 5 minutes less TOI per game is not a disadvantage?

That is not a disadvantage yet playing with Marleau and Kapanen is apparently.

So why doesn't McDavid play 40 minutes a game if more icetime is better?

Or why does he play only 18 minutes in games the Oilers are winning?

This is biggest BS argument on HF boards right now.

What insults? Are you saying that when the vast majority of the hockey world thinks that McDavid is better than Matthews that it is an insult? Odd.

What, are you saying leading the nhl in scoring over 164 games is more impressive then leading the nhl in scoring over 7? Ludicrous.

Mcdavid has 30 more points than Crosby in that same time period. He's beating Mathews by 76...

Meh, I took it like this. The Leafs had an unfair first round finishing with the 3rd most points in the east and playing the team with the 2nd most points in the East in the first round. The Caps had the same amount of points as the Leafs and got to play a 97 point Jackets team that finished in a wild card spot. The Leafs took the Bruins to 7 games despite Kadri being suspended for games 2-4 and their best player only scoring 2 points in 7 games. I'll take my chances with those 2 things not happening in the playoffs going forward.

I expect him to reach the other level, but only the future will tell us.

You jealous that Pasta isnt half the player Matthews is?
Considering Pasta put up one less point in less than 16 minutes of ice time than Matthews has in his entire playoff career.

It was probably frustrating for Matthews to be picking Pastrnaks pucks out of his net, never mind, he didn't, that would require him to come behind his teams blue line.

All compliments for McDavid, from everyone involved. Mackinnon too.

All insults for Matthews. Insult after insult after insult.

HFboards objectivity in fine form as always. And mods are right on top of things as per usual.

Poor victims

Let's pump the brakes a little bit guys, there's like 10 players on pace to score 150 pts right now, we're early in the season.

Hit the 1/4 season mark at least before we start bragging guys up as "2.25 ppg players"

A series win is not required. It's as important as the "Healthiest Team" overhyping from 2 years ago or "Beat a Playoff Team" from last week
You guys just make up these odd requiremnts no one has ever brought up before for any other team.
The Blues missed the playoffs and have more cup win predictions from analysts than the Leafs do.

Predicting the Leafs to win the Cup at 7 games played is beyond ludicrous. Keep trying to justify your flawed argument though.
