Value of: Is Max Pacioretty on his way out?

He's gonna have his streak of 6-7 games with a goal and everything will be fine. Why not just try to find the right Center to play with him? That's what should be the main focus. 30+ goals scorers are such hard to find and to get.

Just take the "C" off Pacioretty. He will feel less pressure and that will be good for him. It's not for every player to be captain and he won't be the first to lose his "captaincy". I know for exemple a player like Clark Gillies was once the captain of the Isles and he didnt like that role so Potvin became the captain.

That's the thing it's not quite simple... we can't do that here in Mtl not like SJ did it to Big Joe. Here, our crazy fans and medias will eat him alive if it happened.

It would cause a bigger storm to take off the ''C'' off him and he'd have to deal with so much more drama to ''why'' it happened & ''how does he feel about it'' and much more stupid things like that.

Think having a ''C'' in Montreal is mentally hard? Imagine being the 1st (at least in recent memories) captain to lose it for ''unknown'' reasons.. that's good material for media to speculate all year long and years to come until he leaves the team (via trade, ufa, retirement whatever)

Aging goal scorer who doesn't drive possession. Not sure the trade value would be enough to let him go

i would hope the NYI would be all over this he'd look great on JT wing and wouldn't have to be the main guy with JT there

I'd rather trade him than take a chance on keeping him once we strip the C from him.

Like one poster said Patches with JT without the pressure of the C/and not having to be the go to guy could really be a great factor for the NYI.

I am curious What would NYI FANS be willing to give up.

Pouliot and Edmonton 1st . He worth more but hat is all I would offer as he not a big need . We need another defence man first

That wouldn't even get by the secretary to MB line.
If your gonna offer at least don't make a mockery of the thread by throwing out this garbage.

Sens want him but can really only offer a futures deal which is likely of no interest to the Habs.

I do think the best value that could be had is something around Paccioretty and 2nd for Simmonds. Paccioretty would be crazy good on Giroux's wing while Simmonds is exactly what Montreal is missing come playoff time.
Flyers fans will obviously say no and to be honest, you don't trade a player like Simmonds unless you have to.

Why is Bjugstad not playing center, looks like he's playing on the wing right now? What could the plus be?

He broke his wrist in preseason and Denis Malgin has been great playing center. They also hope he can get comfortable on the wing to move up the lineup in case of injuries or when guys like Jokinen or Jagr leave.

I have no clue what the plus would be. What does Montreal need?

To Minnesota for one of their D they have to protect in the expansion draft would make some sense.

Max Pachioretty + Mikhail Sergachev

For

Matt Duchene + Chris Bigras

Duchene > Max
Serga > Bigras

I should offer a little explanation for this.

For Montreal, they get Duchene to be their 1B center, playing a more valuable position than Max. Chris Bigras is easily NHL material now, but is not playing in the NHL now because of the amount of one way contracts that Avs defencemen have. Bigras is very intelligent, smooth skating defenseman with great passing ability and is clearly top 4 potential player. Both of these players would help you with Stanley Cup run.

For the Avs, they get a top 6 sniper who sounds like he needs a change of scenery and a market that does not follow his every move. Denver is great in this regard. Avs were very interested in Sergachev, and this would give them a legit prospect that could be a top pairing LHD.

Mtl fans always say that Serga is not tradeable because of Markov age, but Bigras is a good prospect himself. Its downgrading from tier 1 to tier 2 prospect, while bolstering your center depth and adding more defensive depth for this season by gaining an NHL ready prospect who wont look out of place. Bigras can play both left and right side.

Thats a good offer... most of the other ones in thread seemed terrible.

Obviously, Bjugstad would be our 2C. Other than that, we need a top 4LHD.

I'd probably offer Brock Nelson and Ryan Strome. Nelson could be a replacement for Pacioretty, he is not as good but play a similar type of game. He can score 25 to 30 goals a year. Plus I offer a player who as the potential to be a number 2 C. With better coaching, I think it's still possible for him. He probably needs a fresh start elsewhere. If you prefer a d-man, de Haan could be a good candidate too. He is having a very good season so far.
