Is Matthews the worst playoff performer ever?

LA would probably beat Toronto in the first round every year. Matthews has never shown he can score goals at an elite level against any playoff team really. We’ve only got a 9 year sample size to go off.

Who’s in net for LA? Tuka Rask? The one man Stanley cup Carey price? Did they trade for vasilevsky?

Do they have playoff bob that the oilers also couldn’t beat last year?

LA is one of the best defensive teams in the the NHL and have been for years. They are near the top for GA every season for a while now. They also would have had 3rd most points in the entire eastern conference this year.

But how many goals did they allow in 6 games?

If you’re talking about scoring, yes it absolutely matters how late into the playoffs you eventually play the champions.

Matthews hasn’t gotten to crush Ottawa in the first round for the last 4-5 years straight

If your claim is that he has to play a team like Ottawa every year to put up numbers, that’s an extremely feeble argumnent and you’re basically calling him a paper tiger.

Leader of the Maple Leafs no shows important games routinely, year after year after year. He will go down as one of the biggest chokers of all time after routinely limp-dicking his way in crucial do-or-die games. At least Joe Thornton's team went to the finals I guess.

Has Matthews already surpassed Jumbo Joe in the choking department?

You're on team Draisaitl I'm assuming? I am, personally - I've been mocked in the past for suggesting they're similar calibre. I think they're the same level, but if you gave me a choice of one, I'm taking Draisaitl.

I am on Team Draisaitl because he clearly is and always has been a superior player. In this era, there's McDavid and then there's Draisaitl, MacKinnon and Kucherov (for forwards).

I respectfully disagree that Matthews is anywhere close to that same level. Tonight is exhibit A. Draisaitl is better.
