Is Matthews the worst playoff performer ever?

when mitch leaves the fig this summer. the blame will shift, just not sure to who
Can you explain this fig thing you keep saying?

"Toronto is not commonly referred to as "the fig". The term "the fig" isn't associated with the city in any known or widely recognized way. It's possible this is a misunderstanding or a localized nickname that hasn't gained widespread recognition."

AI search results. I could tell you many nicknames for Toronto, but I have not heard about this fig thing and would really like to know.

GTA, 416, TO, Terrahna, hogtown, etc etc........

Help a brother out.

I'll explain it for you: he sucks at chirping (he's a good dude, though)

Close this thread already he proved us all wrong tonight with that stellar game winning goal
While its great that he put in a GWG tonight, he's still been somewhere between decent to mediocre much of these playoffs. Sometimes he's looked really good and other times he's been a ghost. Lets see what he can bring in game 7.

i think its his way of disrespecting the Leafs, like how kids call the oilers the coilers, or the redwings the dead wings etc. Its childish and that poster is the person i've ever heard refer to them as the figs. Its dumb.

So is he still on the trading block?

Blow it up. Leaf fans won't be satisfied until they are rebuilding for the 10th time again.

He really needed that goal. Hopefully he has more confidence in his shooting and goal scoring abilities now and pots another one (or more than one) on Sunday.

I dont see it happening, but im not blind enough to suggest that it cant happen.

I think McDavid signs with the Oilers with a short term contract. The way the cap is going i think 8 year deals for stars are going to be rare, they leave too much money on the table if the cap continues to go up as the projection are predicting.
No.

He can ask Klingberg how stupid that is.

There’s a huge gulf between the kinds of the player they are

Also Alan Wash is the predicting this type of contract becoming more and more prevalent in the coming years and he’s one of the guys negotiating contracts. He expects stars to sign contracts like LeBron a year or two long to maximize dollar amount.

This only happens is the salary keep rising though.

Klingberg wasn’t the best example but his point remains. If Tavares had taken this route, it would have likely backfired. Hard to see him getting over 10M the last three or four years.

Those were Alan Walsh’s words.

JT was never on McDavid level. Players like McDavid will always have the opportunity to make around the same value on a year by year basis or a long term contract.

My personal hope is he signs a long term contract. But we’ve seen with Matthews who only signed a 5 year contract that was is an appetite for shorter term contracts. I’m also probably going to throw more weight behind an actual nhl agent opinion on matters like this than some random on the internet.

Don’t take my word for it. Alan Walsh is the one the predicting short term contracts in the nhl, not me. He also only said this happens if the salary cap keeps rising. Again. This isn’t my prediction or original thought. It comes from nhl agent Alan Walsh. So you know there will be players looking at these types contract.

It doesn’t work in a flat cap world. So that’s why Klingberg was an awful example So is JT because he doesn’t lead the team in anything and he hasn’t won anything of note, especially over the course of his 11 million contract. But then again it was the flat cap era. So still not apple to apples imo.
