Will trade you Pettersson for MatthewsI cant think of a worse example of a skater whose play so consistently drops off every playoffs and I’ve been watching hockey for 30 years.
This guy is supposed to be a superstar and has a C on his jersey now and it’s the same old. 60 goal man in the regular season, 30 goal pace in the playoffs at best. He wasn’t good at 4 nations either.
It’s time to stop making excuses for this guy IMO.
Marner atleast has the ‘small perimeter player who’s not built for playoff hockey’ excuse. Matthews is 6’4 and supposed to be the best goalscoror in the NHL in his prime. Matthews is a two time 60 goal scorer, a hart winner and someone who was thought to be a serious contender to break Ovi’s goal record a year ago. His shortcomings are worse to me.Marner is worse, but Matthews is a close 2nd.
I'd personally love to see both of them gone.
Maybe he's trying for a Kessel Run.
Look at this clownthese poor kids look up to this muffin.

Everyone calls Matthews this incredible defensive forward. He's been "putting on a clinic" defensively according to a lot of people.
Last night he had two horrible giveaways in his own zone, one lead directly to a goal. I've noticed this a few times this series. Paying attention to his defense, there is nothing that makes him standout. Barkov is extremely noticeable defensively for example.
Is this just Leafs fans blowing smoke up their own ass to justify Matthews' lack for goal scoring? What am I missing here? The guy barely kills penalties and really isn't special as a #1 center on the defensive side.
How do you adjust goals for a single playoff campaign?
He had some horrible giveaways against Ottawa, too.I'm not trolling, legitimately please help me understand here.

heard leafs are pushing the league hard on allowing little purses on the benchHe's a good player but he'd be even better if he played with his earrings in.
