Is Matthews the worst playoff performer ever?

I mean if thats a stretch you want to make thats fine. Players do push for milestones and 70 goals would’ve been a special one. Maybe Shanahan should’ve marched to the dressing room after 82 and ripped the C right off his chest
It was an “A” last year. What Shanny did instead was rip the C off Tavares’s chest and give it to Auston.

He’s very clearly injured and has been all season. At some point a decision was made not to shut him down. Maybe due to recovery needing to be quite long. He hasn’t been himself all year. It’s highlighted more now, but this isn’t even normal playoff Matthew’s. it sucks to see a guy with his talent unable to play his game.
It's weird that he's been injured every playoff since he's entered the league, what is that, 8 consecutive playoffs as an injured player?

He’s such a good player

But he literally looks like he is planning vacation spots for the end of this week during the intermission

He’s usually lethal for HD scoring chances off the rush with one defender

Now he is barely gaining the zone with possession.

Matthews hasn't been healthy in the playoffs for the past few years. People are going to rip him for lack of numbers but it's not really fair to him.
The injury excuse won’t fly. He’s underperformed for 8 straight years now. Lots of players play injured and have big playoffs. Draisaitl was playing on one leg last year and helped get his team to game 7 of the SCF.
With Matthews it’s less about injuries and more about disappearing when the games get tighter and more physical in the playoffs.
He needs to change the narrative soon.

Well, he’s injured now so I don’t think it’s changing this year.
