He was never even in the discussion for best goalie in the NHL when he played. It was always Lundqvist and Price. Do we consider them Top 10 goalies?

Depends how much you value longevity. His peak was nothing special. He'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer though.

I love MAF. I thought the Pongs should have kept him instead of Murray back in 2017. I made a case for his inclusion in the HHOF before he won a Vezina.
He is not remotely a Top 10 goalie all-time. His greatness lies in longevity, wins, and playoff success.

I think a lot of people underestimate how bad the Penguins’ defense was in front of him for so many years, and therefore underrate him substantially. He is absolutely a top 10 goalie of his era.

That said, not a top 10 goalie of all time.

No. ainec.

Play on a team with a young Malkin and Crosby is a good way to rack up wins.

Of the 48 wins in Pittsburgh’s 3 cups with him, he won 25. (Matt Murray won 22. Who is the goaltender that won one?)

Vezina was a career award like Doughty’s Norris.

Despite having written all that, love the guy and he makes me proud to be a human being.

Thankfully the poll results and responses are an overwhelming no, but whenever I see the attempt to tout Fleury as one of the great netminders of his generation, it does make me wonder how seriously opinions of the hockey world in the far flung past should be taken when it comes to certain players.

Having a great smile, being warm and likable, and showing up to work for twenty one seasons doesn’t mean you’re one of the elite at your position.

He's a compiler. Career accomplishment-wise? Yeah he's top 10. Actual goaltending ability-wise, no not at all. When you look at where he ranks among goaltenders in just his own generation, he's always been middle of the pack for starters. Guy has been very lucky to remain very healthy and get to play on some really good teams.
