Celebrini will be on the Canadian Olympic team confirmed
I think he is solidifying his spot on the Olympic roster.Gotta say Mack already passed Bedard in hockey lessons by going to this tournament. This is such a big jump for Mack playing along with Crosby and MacKinnon AND succeeding. This was such a great way to show his country that he is ready to take the crown from Crosby once he retires one day. We got the king!
Just goes to show that record points scorers from the WHL/OHL might not translate to the NHL as well as players who excel in the NCAA at a young age *kicks multiple hornet's nests at once, runs for hills*If Grier can get Mack some help around him, I think he’s going to have a phenomenal sophomore season. Shining on the international stage and wowing Crosby and Mackinnon — he’s showing himself to be everything people expected Bedard to be. What a player.
Who's the last legit NHL star to emerge from the CHL? McDavid ten years ago? All the best defensemen are from the NCAA or Europe for sure.Just goes to show that record points scorers from the WHL/OHL might not translate to the NHL as well as players who excel in the NCAA at a young age *kicks multiple hornet's nests at once, runs for hills*
Careful, might trawl a whole lot of Sharks potential 2025-26 prospects in that dragnet... Misa, Martone, Desnoyers, McKenna, Roobroeck, Verhoeff...Who's the last legit NHL star to emerge from the CHL? McDavid ten years ago? All the best defensemen are from the NCAA or Europe for sure.
Yuck. What an embarrassing list for the CHL.Careful, might trawl a whole lot of Sharks potential 2025-26 prospects in that dragnet... Misa, Martone, Desnoyers, McKenna, Roobroeck, Verhoeff...
In "seriousness", depends on your definition of Star.
2017 Hischier QMJHL, Jason Robertson OHL
2018 Svechnikov OHL, Bouchard OHL, Dobson Q
2019 Cozens WHL, Harley OHL, Suzuki OHL
2020 getting into "too soon to say" territory but Byfield OHL, Jarvis WHL feels like a stretch
2021 McTavish OHL, Wyatt Johnson OHL, Stankoven WHL, obviously Ostapchuk WHL
2022 way too soon to say but...
Wright, Korchinski, Mintyukov
Certainly not exciting at the very top of the draft, but some of those picks are looking pretty awesome (Harley, Johnston, Svechnikov) ... Dobson and Bouchard are about the best you can expect (not the best possible outcome). Lots of Misa parallels to Wright so hope he can pull it together.Yuck. What an embarrassing list for the CHL.

I personally don't think Frondell or Hagens are a good get at 2. It's truly a rough year. Simon from TSLH thinks only Misa has first line potential of the forwards but more as a wing like Taylor Hall - not inspiring as a core piece. Schaefer or bust.
I agree that makes the most sense, but we of course would rather that Misa is first line caliber, just happens to be on our second line. That's the contending core we need.We don't need Misa to be a 1st liner. If he slots in as a strong 2C and Smith is moved to the wing (where his slipperiness and scoring-focused game might work better than at center) that works out just fine too.
I mean, I'd rather he be the second coming of CrosbyI agree that makes the most sense, but we of course would rather that Misa is first line caliber, just happens to be on our second line. That's the contending core we need.

Are you implying that he's not a first line caliber player?I mean, I'd rather he be the second coming of Crosby
