Mo was rushed and has unfixed flaws in his game. Lily wasn't. Does Lily overtake Reilly next year? I will give you a hint: yes. Let's discuss.
I would argue maybe sooner than thatMo was rushed and has unfixed flaws in his game. Lily wasn't. Does Lily overtake Reilly next year? I will give you a hint: yes. Let's discuss.
Rielly can definitely put up points, but he's always been suspect defensively. Lets hope Liljegren can be better on the defensive side of things even if it means he puts up less points. It would be nice to have a young Dman that could eventually play 20+ mins a night that you could trust to play good defense night in and night out and not make too many mistakes. I always hoped Rielly could be that guy, but its clear that he isn't. Lets hope Liljegren can be.Let's pump the brakes a bit. Love Lilly, but Rielly was 4th in Norris Voting in a 72 point season. He just came off 68.
He will get 55 to 60 pts.I doubt he'll ever be a 70 point guy, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Liljegren's edge in defensive ability is wider than Rielly's edge in offense
Lily anD Brodie anyone?Could he? Of course. Let’s not forget this is a guy who was once the top of his draft class and got derailed because of mono, losing precious development time in the process. His offensive tools have always been there and he has seriously refined his defensive game. Liljegren has no glaring holes in his game aside from the occasional brain gaff (like that turnover that led to a GA) which I’m sure will become less often as he acclimated to the NHL.
He has #1 potential for sure and imo a higher ceiling and floor than Sandin. Whether he reaches it or not is still a very big question mark but his development has been stellar and he’s really shining this year. I think his floor is a low end #4 but realistic expectations is a high end #3 who can slot on to the first pairing comfortably with a more capable partner if needed as long as he doesn’t stagnate in his development
Lily has never had the chance to spread his wings. Next year, book it.We said this about Sandin too, albeit on the powerplay
Liljegren needs to prove her can play 20+ minutes consistently against good teams
Rielly is looking bad right now, but he’s easily our best overall defencemen still
I love Mo, in a good way but his defense has stagnated.Rielly can definitely put up points, but he's always been suspect defensively. Not once have i ever been a fan of Rielly being the #1D.
How can it be that you cant even trust him to take on other teams best players in any capacity?
Keefe had to put together a Brodie - Holl pairing because Rielly gets caved the f*** in against top competition..
Remember when the year when Sandin was drafted, every trade proposal included Lily. I remember. You people better be eating your crow now.
Best overall? Mo will never get better defensively now.We said this about Sandin too, albeit on the powerplay

If he does, it means we have a pair of number one defensemen so I'd be good with that.
He has easy top 3 written all over imCould he? Of course. Lily buys Sandin time, which he needs.Remember when the year when Sandin was drafted, every trade proposal included Lily. I remember. You people better be eating your crow now.
And his defensive gaffes??Rielly has become criminally underrated. He’s way better with the puck than Liljegren and he’s a better skater.
