Is Leon Draisaitl Gonna Break Nathan Mackinnon's HART

How much does McDavid benefit from Draisaitl? Because this year, the advanced stats show that McDavid's numbers dip significantly without Draisaitl while Draisaitl's stay high without McDavid and with glorified ECHL players on his line.

I'm not saying MacKinnon isn't deserving. Both players are. I'm just tired of the "b-b-but he p-p-plays with McJeezuz" argument.

Especially when Drai has been dragging McDavid into games for most of the year, which nobody outside of Edmonton seems to realize or acknowledge.

If nothing else changed and Leon was just taken off the team this year the Oilers aren't making the playoffs and might not even be close. Even if McDavid was still on the team.

Shhhhhh! Don't spoil their narrative :sarcasm:

McJesus has been carrying Draisaitl for ten years now. To suggest that anything has ever changed...well...some posters would have to rock themselves to sleep at night...

Earlier in the season, my 3 Hart finalists were MacKinnon, Kaprizov, Q. Hughes, but injuries ruined the chances of Kirill and Hughes. Right now it’s Drai, MacK, Hellebuyck, I’d give it to Draisaitl. I hope MacK wins his 1st Art Ross though

If you think the net rating is good don't look at the GAR...Drai is on another level this year, this matches the stats and the eye test.

When you look at the gap to 2nd place and then on the gap from 2nd to 10th place you will realize how special he is this year.

Colorado goes for Cups while Oilers go for individual awards.
Avs did a great job this year in adding good pieces...every Oiler fan is looking up to you what you did over a season in adding players especially in net.

But your sentence doesn't make sense...Avs have only one cup in recent years to show for and they had a juggernaut team...Oilers went to Game 7 of the finals...they were as close as it gets...nothing to be ashamed.
I think other teams should be mentioned with more than one cup.

But if I had to bet, I think Avs are the favorites this year...they are looking more than 2022 team than ever...but we will see, Oilers are looking like s**t but maybe they can ramp it up to the big show.

Tell us you’ve never heard Leon, Connor and other Oilers players speak about their goals without telling us you never have. So wrong.
Great players make those around them better…

Nuke, Drouin, Lehkonen, Toews. All players acquired for pennies on the dollar of their current selves.

I don’t deny that. That’s not what you said in your post that I’m referring to.

This year is similar to 08/09 when OV took the Hart over Malkin.

Malkin had a significant amount of point shares with Crosby, who was regarded as the league's best/co-best player with a peak OV. He missed a few games but his PPG was close to Malkin's; as close as McDavid's is to Draisaitl's.

OV had Backstrom but he was on the same tier as Rantanen/Necas.

We'll see how much voters consider the goalscoring edge, it's not necessarily viewed as an edge in Hart voting, and Makar being on the Avs.

You contradicted yourself a bit here, saying this year feels like 09 when OV won the Hart over Malkin due to a significant goal scoring edge, but then later mention that its not necessarily viewed as an edge in Hart voting.

If defenseman were considered more often for the Hart, this award would be Makar's hands down. He is the best player in the league this year, nobody has a bigger impact on both sides of the puck than him and he is the favorite for the Norris.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, hence the "not necessarily". Thornton won in 05/06 for example and Sedin in 09/10.

As for Makar, how much are his numbers influenced by MacKinnon? I can't find the numbers but it seems to be significant.

It's similar in that Draisaitl has a massive goal edge over Mackinnon much like Ovi did over Malkin. You miss the closest parallel bravo.

You missed where there are plenty of examples where a goalscoring edge isn't the be all, end all. OV being more of a one man show on the Caps was the bigger factor, IMO.

Total points is the much more reliable indicator of the Hart winner than goalscoring.
