MacKinnon was looking to be running away with the Art Ross and another potential Hart trophy but King Leon is all but caught up. The Rantanen trade probably messed things for Nate and it might ruin his chances at getting his first Art Ross as he is scoring at 1.45 PPG vs 1.49 for Leon. Kucherov actually is even higher at 1.54. Based on the latest rumblings Leon is also leading the Hart race due to his goal scoring.

Will MacKinnon be able to hold on to pole position? Or will Leon crush Nate's hopes and dreams and break his heart and Hart? or maybe it will be the NHL's biggest villain the Koochman overtaking both at the last minute to sneak yet another win for the bad guy?

Discuss.

It will be an interesting finish if they all can stay healthy. IMHO- Kucherov is far from the NHL's biggest villain. Methinks you watch Don Cherry for inspiration.

Draisaitl was probably already front runner with Hart IMO. Mackinnon doesn't play like a 80pts guy or maybe my bar for him is higher than some. Last year he looked very dominant though. Art Ross gonna be an interesting battle.

If something like the ranatanen trade messed up Mack's chances he really wasn't in the running esp for the hart....

When it's as close as it is in the scoring race, all it takes is for one of these guys to have a 4-5 point game and jump ahead. I think Kucherov could make a push, he always seems to pile up the points but I hope Leon gets it done. He's been so clutch.

"Kucherov is a bad guy" only for stupid people who think 2 minutes penalty is a worse crime than 3 games suspension some other guy got.

This would be because the NHL willfully turns a blind eye to anything Kuch does, not because he’s an innocent angel.

Anyway, Drai has been much better than that cheapshot artist this year. No contest.

Stat that’s missing from the thread is Leon is 4th in the league in plus/minus. Not only is he leading in scoring but his defensive game has been incredible this year too

Draisaitl is ahead of MacKinnon for me but both are still a clear step behind Hughes and Hellebuyck
Hughes has to drag his team into the playoffs to even be considered. Or so I have been told in other years by the sports media.

I dont understand the Kucherov is a villain thing. I don't see him that way at all.
Yeah, he made some people mad once. Nobody really thinks he is the villain. Especially not now. It's been too long since that happened.

Probably but it seems like a goalie is in the hearts of the voters right now.

I also think that with Quinn missing games he will drop out of the race to be a finalist and Kuch isn't really on the radar to be a finalist either.
