Or do you think he needs a couple years under his belt in the second line center role. I think the main reason why he could be the #1 centre (aside from being drafted 3rd overall in 2019) is because Kane will make him that much better. I hope these two are stapled together for the next season.

If Suzuki is a #1C at 21 years old then Dach certainly is too because I see Dach having higher upside.

I like Dach. We haven't seen anything from him that would suggest he's ready to be a #1 centre in the NHL. He probably will be Kane's centre to start the year, but that doesn't make him a 1C.

It would be nice to aquire a second line center and relieve some pressure off Dach .Put him as the 3rd line center to build his confidence and ease his minutes ...coming off the injury

Short memory? Did you forget the Bubble in 2020?

And outside of that?

A few good games in bubble is not a #1C

Also Highmore had some good games in bubble ,, Thoughts on him?

Its time for Dach to show why he was #3 pick in draft ,, If he falters this year it raises many questions about him as player and the Hawks selecting of him at draft

Dach played really well against a bad Oilers team. Then they got manhandled by Vegas. In either case, he didn't show in either series that he was ready to be a 1C.
He made Leon Draisaitl, one of the 3 best forwards in the world, his bitch for the series. He was taking the matchups against McDavid and Draisaitl and was more than holding his own as a teenager against arguably the two best players in the world. In a playoff series.

The only reason why Dach hasn't established himself is because he got injured last year IMO. The talent is clearly there, he's going to be fine. To me, the question isn't if he's going to eventually be a #1C, but how good he gets once he reaches that level.

Dach certainly hasn’t yet shown that he’s ready to be a 1c, but I expect he will by the end of the season. If he doesn’t by the following season I’ll be pretty disappointed.

How do you think the org will deploy Dach in the upcoming year? Do you think he'll be given the minutes?

He had already taken the 1C minutes before he got injured so I don't see how anything has changed. Just my opinion.

I'd be beyond shocked if Dach doesn't take a huge step forward this year.

He’ll take a significant step this season. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t.

I actually think he safely projects as a 60-65 point two way horse. I’m not sure he’ll ever be a ppg guy, But his two way game projects to be elite, imo.

Needs work at the dot though.

Need to see more offensively before I can definitely say he will be a 1C but worst case scenario he should be a defensive and possession monster.

Dach put up points, played solid D, and was among the team leaders (for forwards) in Edmonton. The kid, at minimum, flirted with being a 1C back then.

And then he f***ed up his wrist and looked like a middle six center.

I could see it going either way for him this year. I could see him bounce back to what we saw in Edmonton, or I could see a kid that looks promising, but is a little below where you'd hope given he lost a good amount of development last year.

Best to not put any high expectations on the kid this season and just be content anytime he has a solid game.

The teenager that shutdown McDavid and Draisaitl?

I don't think it's unfathomable. Obviously he didn't look 100% coming out of surgery...but that's cause he wasn't.

Kirby has had lots of time to rest and recover now. Have to imagine we see him at his best next season.

That's not to say there won't be the usual young player hiccups, and maybe there's an adjustment period to start the season as he gets back into the swing of things, but I think he's capable. I believe in Kirby.

Dach needs to actually attend a full training camp and be healthy for a good evaluation. For anyone disappointed in him so far, he has yet to actually start a season fully prepared and healthy.

McDavid had 5 even strength points in 4 games and Draisaitl had 3. That's containment for those guys. Regardless, they're still going to get theirs because they're that good.

They scored 15 points combined in 4 games. Even if you just count 5v5 they scored 8 points in 4 games and both ran a 60+ CF%. That in no way in hell is shutting them down.
