Keefe’s post game comments last night were embarrassing. It was like we were some rebuilding team trying to find a positive against a “cup contender”. Whatever he was trying to convey was pathetic. It also showed he’s now circling the wagons to save his job polishing turds. It reminded me of Babcock’s last days.

Keefe basically said: "Well, we didn't get blown out...so that's a positive" ...How a grown man can say what he said is just flat out confounding. Like you said...this isn't 2016 and we are a team full of 1st and 2nd year guys looking for positives.

Colorado and Vegas look like crap too and both also did not do as well as expected in the playoffs.
True, but the hockey market in Colorado and Vegas is nothing like the hockey market in Toronto. Hockey is king in Toronto and the pressure from media and fans far more intense. Deboer gets a long leash in Vegas because the team already exceeded the wildest expectations for a new franchise and Colorado has other, bigger major league teams to hold the spotlight. Not so in Toronto. The 54 year cup drought, the playoff win drought. The pressure carries over from previous seasons and just builds and builds.

Just to be clear, I’m not suggesting that firing Keefe is the right move, just the only meaningful move that can happen given that management won’t blame itself. And if this team loses tomorrow, I’d be shocked if Keefe was still around for Detroit.

I've never heard so.much bs from Shanny on down
From the killer instinct comment, to Kyle's ""they care deeply" to Keefe with his well.we didn't get blown out against a good team and I'm concerned about the mood.....warm fuzzies
STFU and play 3 periods hard for once. Stop the coddling and send a message to 16 like they have so many times with Nylander

Dubas didn't drag Keefe around from the Greyhounds to the Marlies to the Leafs to fire him within two years.

Plus, any team that eats through coaches that fast has issues beyond coaching.
Agreed. Was coming here to post that I'm wondering if the players are playing to get Keefe fired like they did Babs. If that's the case, Shanahan and Dubas need to step in and say enough is enough. You either buy in or you're out.

No.

This management group isn't going to fire another coach. Generally speaking front offices get to go through two coaches before they themselves start to get removed.

They will either have to right the ship, or they all go down with it.

The team can't just get a coach fired every time things are hard for them. If they don't like the current situation, they have to play their way out of it

Exactly the reason I say no, and I doubt it is even in the front of their minds.

3 losses, two of which where the Leafs were the worse team, is not even close to enough. If this happened in the middle of the season, it wouldn't garner serious discussion then, and shouldn't garner serious discussion now.

Fun Stat

Babcock’s record after 7 games in the season he was fired 4–2-1

Keefe’s: 2-4-1

Keefe has all of Dubas faith, they are ride or die together those two. Issue is i think we'll win a round this year and lose in the second and will that be enough for them to keep their jobs? I would hate that. Just the bare minimum? I mean clearly this team is not a stanley cup contender.

This is sad.

This is embarrassing. I've said it before but it bears saying again... These are not rookies. These are veterans earning millions a year. If you can earn the big bucks, you should know how to play the game at the highest level possible. All the skills in the world and zero heart. Someone call the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz because we found his brothers.

how does shanascam keep his job and skate scott free?
7 years, 3 gm's, 4 coaches - are we gonna make it 4 gm's and 5 coaches?
is the the plan we all look to? the SHANAPLAN?
until the head of the snake is cut off the other shuffling is smoke and mirrors .. not a defence of anyone in the org, just a comment that the easy move is not a solution ... it is a bandaid ...
bandaids are not required, major surgery is

What was he supposed to say ? The truth ?

Marner has lost it and nobody really cares ?

If I’m not mistaken, Fleury ended Babcock. He was fired the next day after losing to Vegas. Fleury made that insane behind the back glove save. Wouldn’t it be poetry is it happens again.
