Definitely still very useful. Still hovering around point per game.

Top 5v5 goal differential ranking for all 253 forwards in the league with 250+ minutes this season: John Tavares: 74.75%

4th highest faceoff % at 59.3% (min 300 FO)

What a guy. Just keeps putting up points and looking really driven. The best he’s been as a Leaf in his time here. And I know I said that recently but he seems to just be getting more clutch and better

he'll probably go out like pavelski, still finding ways to be useful and productive until the end.

Once his contract is up, thensame miniute they are legit contenders. 9M of that shouldm go for a D
The Leafs have 4 d-men locked up for at least the next 3 years. Rielly-Tanev, OEL-McCabe. They are top 5 in pretty much any defensive category, what do they gain with a 9m d-man. Also, how is losing Tavares making them instant cup contenders? At least try and be coherent.

He is a NHlL regular for 11 millions. They can upgrade to a great defense. Two pair of good D man, or a Great Dman and a forward to replace Johnny.
Tanev and OEL isnt exactly rising stars, they are on the slope down. Reilly isnt a defensive poweress for what I know?

Reilly Tanev
Great Dman - McCabe
OEL - regular NHL D.

Looks better than todays D?

Don't think he said they were losing him? Looks like he is hoping he takes a big pay cut.

His best days were behind him even before he arrived in Toronto. He's pretty much Jason Allison with more scoring touch.

Stats wise he had his best season with the leafs and has maintained the same ppg up until last year where he had a slight dip while still scoring 29 goals.

Fans like to think amazing players grow on tree's and you can simply pluck them out the same way you pluck out an apple and heck why not pay them to amazing team friendly deals while your at it!

Hockey and life doesn't work like this, there are a finite # of good players, Tavares is one of them and when he signed his deal he was worth all 11m of it.

I disagree. It is becoming clear Dubas was what prevented it. Brad has had no issues prioritizing the defense and goaltending with the leafs and hiring coaching staff who value it the same way.

Reminder the Leafs are not a rush offensive first team and have not been one for many years. They are currently tied with Dallas for 3rd best in goals against / game and are the best team in the league at limiting high danger chances against.

Again, if anything Leaf fans have just asked for change after 8 years of similar seasons. Not sure why that deserves to be mocked. People love to mock the other side of it (Leaf fans cheering for the same team planning the parade). Maybe folks just will use whatever excuse to take shots at the Leafs?
lol, took you Dubas moving on, to come around, when in TO, you were gate keeping him.

Must of dropped I guess, HDCA/60. Leafs are 7th at 5 on 5, not first.
